Youngsville's Sage Sivak slams Sheffield's Hunter Jones to the mat in a match on Friday at Youngsville High School.

Every match on the mat, but the final one, was decided by pin.

"It was a nice match," said Youngsville coach Scott Ishman. "It's good to get the county teams back together. I can't remember the last time we wrestled Sheffield.

"The Sivak brothers really came through for us tonight," said Ishman. "They were wrestling up in weight. Sage was at 173 pounds but wrestled at 195. I thought the underclassmen did very well. Zach Ishman is doing a lot better. I can't ask any more out of the team. They did great tonight."

Youngsville got two pins in a row - by Ishman and Jeremy Lyon - to start the match.

Ishman and Sheffield's Steve Gregerson wrestled even in the first period at 152, but Ishman had a great takedown that led directly to a pin in the second.

At 160, Lyon almost had a pin at the end of the first period, but kept on the attack to start the second for a pin in 2:12.

Sheffield counter-punched in the third match. Anthony Jones dominated his opponent from the beginning and got a first-period pin.

The Eagles responded with three straight pins at 185, 195, and 285 - by the Sivak brothers and Stephen Beattie - to take a solid lead. There was also a forfeit win in there.

Sheffield got back into the mix at 113 pounds. Ricky Prosen got the advantage halfway through the second period and got a pin for Sheffield.

The match of the night was without a doubt between Youngsville's Chester Ciukaj and Sheffield's Marc Nadal. They fought to an 8-8 tie with time ticking by in the third period. Then, they each scored quickly to knot the match at 10-10 before a reset. With 32 seconds left, Nadal ran out of gas and Ciukaj rolled him over for the pin with 16 seconds left.

Sheffield got a pin at 126 (Adam Barr) and Youngsville won a decision at 132 (Hunter Proctor) to end the match.

"It was a really good match," said Sheffield coach Jack Rice. "Ricky Prosen had a really good match at 113 pounds. Marc Nadal also did really well. (Brandon) Johnston was out and this was Nadal's first-ever match on the mat. He is a good first-year wrestler."
