Back on track.

The Eisenhower boys basketball team pulled out a convincing victory Thursday, ending a two-game losing streak with a 50-35 victory over Maplewood at Eisenhower High School.

"The hustle play was there all night," said Ike assistant coach Jacoby Curtis. "When we ran our offense and we were patient, we got layups."

With the win, Eisenhower moves to 9-7 on the season.

Maplewood came out in a zone and Eisenhower got any look it wanted in the opening minutes of the game. Opening the game on an 11-1 tear, the Knights limited the visitors to just three points in the opening quarter.

Maplewood found its offensive groove in the second quarter, but the Knights matched the Tigers' output and took a 24-16 lead into the half.

Eisenhower had some trouble in the second half and watched as the Tigers cut the lead to as few as five points. However, the final eight minutes of the game belonged to the home team.

Great ball movement on offense and some quick hands on defense worked to the Knights' benefit and Ike stretched the advantage to 15 points.

"The defense played hard but we need to get better position," said Curtis.

Ike will also be looking to improve at the foul line because it finished 9-of-22 during Thursday night's win.

The Knights return to action Saturday, hosting Corry.

Ike won the junior varsity outing, 40-31. Jarrett Johnson led the winners with nine points.

Erie Bethel 44, Tidioute Charter 31

Tidioute Charter coach Dave Manning has his players on the right track.

His Bulldogs put together their "best game of the season" Thursday night during a 44-31 home loss to visiting Erie Bethel.

"This was by far the best game we've played all year," said Manning. "We took care of the ball and actually won the second half. Things are starting to look like they should."

After falling behind 27-12 at the half, the Bulldogs outscored Bethel by a count of 19-17.

Brian Faulkner and Pat Haney did the majority of the damage for TCCS on offense. Faulkner scored 15 points and Haney finished with 12 markers. Haney dished out seven assists and Faulkner finished with five.

The Bulldogs will try to earn their first win of the season Monday when they host Warren County Christian School. The event is Senior Night for the TCCS senior players.
