Beacon Light offering new PCIT program

February 2, 2012
The Times Observer

Beacon Light Behavioral Health Systems announced Wednesday that it is now providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy through the Children's Outpatient Clinic at 121 Central Ave.

The weekly PCIT programs offer live coaching between parent and child, between the ages of two and seven, in specially-designed rooms that allow the therapists to observe from a separate observation area. While the parent wears a special earphone, therapists use behavioral principles to help coach the parents behaviors as they interact with their child. The use of live coaching and immediate feedback is a key element in PCIT, according to Beacon Light officials.
