Sing-A-long at Senior Center
Some of the members at the Tidioute Senior Center gathered to sing some songs. Martha Smith played the piano and Ruth Gerus played the accordion.

Thursday, Feb. 2 Chicken Tender sandwiches, dessert, and beverages.

Monday, Feb. 6 will be Chicken Parmesan, dessert, and beverages.

Tuesday, Feb. 7 will be meatloaf, dessert, and beverages.

Thursday, Feb. 9 will be hot turkey sandwiches, dessert and beverages.

Menu is subject to change. Call the center at 484-3020 to sign up for lunch and the TWAC bus for transportation to the center.

Income tax services are available at the center, call for an appointment.

Remember that when school is cancelled due to the weather, then there is no senior center and no Meals on Wheels or home delivery.

Pancake Supper

Just a friendly reminder of the "Flap Jack" Stack-em Nite on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church.

The meal will include pancakes, sausages, juice, applesauce, beverage and dessert for a cost of $ 6 per person.

Come yourself, or bring a friend along or even the entire family.

Take outs will be available, call 484-3513 to order.

Proceeds will benefit the Presbyterian Church building and restoration.

Super Bowl Soup Sales

Tidioute First United Methodist Church will be holding its annual Super Bowl Soup Sales on Sunday, Feb. 5 from noon till the soup is gone.

Cost for take outs is $3 for a 16-ounce container, $4 for a 20-ounce container and only $4.50 to eat in at the church. Those eating in will receive soup, dessert and beverage.

Soups being offered will be cream of broccoli, chicken noodle, vegetable beef, chili, chicken and rice and perhaps potato.

Girl Scout Cookie Sales

You still have plenty of time to order Girl Scout cookies.

Just contact any Girl Scout or Lena Rison at 484-3811 and place an order.

Orders will be here for delivery the week of Feb. 27.

Girl Scout Groups

Daisy and Brownie groups meet after school on Tuesdays till 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, and their leaders are Crystal Phillips and Wendy Franks.

Junior and Cadets meet on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church and their leaders are Jennifer Nuttall and Lena Rison.

Anyone wishing to join the Girl Scouts can contact Lena at 484-3811.

Chinese Auction

Members of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be holding their annual Chinese Auction on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Post Home to coincide with the Chili Cook Off being held by the VFW Post 8803.

Anyone who would like to donate items for the auction may contact Barb Downey at 589-7508 or Beverly Stotler at 484-3549 or you can leave the items at the Post Home.

Proceeds from this Chinese Auction will benefit the cancer research.

Birthday Party

At Center

Tidioute Senior Center held its quarterly birthday party on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Over 36 people enjoyed a ham dinner with birthday cake and ice cream for dessert.

Ruth Gerus entertained everyone by playing her accordion. Then several members gathered around the piano and had a sing-a-long. Martha Smith played the piano.

Income tax appointments are being taken and slots are filling up fast, call the center at 484-3020 to make an appointment for your tax returns. This is a free site done by VITA volunteers.

Plans are being made for the Valentine's Day dinner, call the center to sign up for this dinner.

They welcome everyone age 50 and up to join them for lunch and fellowship. There are some people who play cards and others who play Bingo together.

Lunches are served on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon. Come and bring a friend.

Dental Center Addition

In last week's article on the Tidioute Dental Center the name of Erin Wilcox, a hygienist who works on Mondays, was omitted from the article.

Salvation Army Camp

Children ages six to age 12 are invited to attend the Salvation Army Outdoor Adventure Camp in Ellwood City from June 18 to 23.

A small fee is charged for this camp and if your child wants to go and you need financial help to send your child/children, contact Camp Chairperson Jeri Higgins at 484-2771 or Tidioute Unit Chairperson Linda Scott at 484-7525.

To attend the camp on these dates you must have your application in by May 29.

Two other camp dates are open, one for July 27 to Aug. 1 for SR. Sports Camp for ages 11 to 14 and one on Aug. 3-8 for Outdoor Adventures Camp 3 for ages 6 to 12.

Boys and girls are welcome to attend this and camp.

Legion Baseball

Sign-Up

There is a sign-up sheet for Legion baseball for ages 14 to 19 at Buccardo's Restaurant.

Sign up is from now till Feb. 24.

If interested, put your name, age and phone number on the sign up sheet.

Tidioute Health Fair

Those who would like to participate in the Tidioute Health Fair on Saturday, March 31 should contact Marty Bennett to set up an appointment.

Appointments are being taken beginning at 7 a.m. until noon.

Blood will be drawn for several tests which will include but not be limited to heart disease, cholesterol tests, kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid function, anemia, liver disease. These tests require you to fast for 12 hours prior to the tests.

Cost for the testing will be $40 and men can have the PSA blood test to detect prostate cancer for an additional cost of $17.

There will be other tests offered for free such as bone density screening, fall and balance, hearing, blood pressure, eye screenings, and BMI.

A light breakfast will be offered for a donation to cover the cost of the food being served.

This Health Fair is sponsored by Warren General Hospital in cooperation with Tidioute Fire Department.

Your test results will be sent to your family doctor.

VFW Meeting

Post 8803 members will hold their monthly meeting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Post Home.

Servicemen's

Home Corp.

There will be a meeting of the Servicemen's Home on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Post Home.

Borough Council

Tidioute Borough council members will meet on Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Tidioute Towers.

There is still a council seat vacant. Anyone wishing to serve on council can submit their name at the borough office for consideration.

Council meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the community room at Tidioute Towers. You must enter the community room from the around back on the creek side of the building.

VFD Bingo

Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department will be holding Bingo on Saturday, Feb. 11 with the doors opening at 1 p.m. and the games will begin at 2 pm.

There is a progressive jackpot that all players have a chance to win. This bingo game is open to the public and anyone who enjoys a fun time at bingo should come and try their luck.
