GROVE CITY - Eisenhower has three wrestlers and Warren two - both freshmen - in Saturday's Fred Bell Memorial Wrestling Tournament quarterfinal round at Grove City High School.
Warren's D.J. Fehlman started with a bye at 120 pounds, but improved to 24-3 on his freshman season with a major decision. Freshman teammate Jason Peterson also started with a bye and then earned a first-period pin to advance to the 113-pound quarters. He'll meet the tourney's top seed in the quarterfinal round of the 29-team tournament.
Still alive in the consolation rounds for Warren is Seth Johnson (106), Jonah Hordusky (132), Drew Williams (138), Garrett Smead (145), Chris McNeal (182), and Alex Streich (195).
Johnson lost, but pinned the weight's No. 2 seed, Laurel's Ryan Glasser, in 4:44. Williams was 2-1 with two pins, and Smead and McNeal both won in the wrestlebacks.
For Eisenhower, Jeb Fedorchuk (120), Trevor Spicer (182) and Jake Johnson (195) advanced to the quarterfinal round on Saturday.
Teammates Dylan Baker (126), Jordan Hefferman (220) and Kenny Peters (285) won matches on Friday and are alive in the consolation round. Baker was 2-1, and Peters lost a real good match that would have seen him in the quarterfinal round.
