Winterfest

January 19, 2012
The Times Observer

If you can do it outside in the winter - and we'll leave out scraping your windshield and shoveling your walk - you can do it at Warren County Winterfest.

Just in time to provide some winter to go with the fest, the forecast is calling for more snow today and enough frigid temperatures Friday to keep it around for the weekend.

Winterfest is all about snow and ice and the fun and creative things you can do with them.

The annual event at Chapman State Park Saturday and Sunday celebrates the season rather than bemoans it. From sled riding to snow sculpting, from ice fishing to a brisk dip through the ice for those who dare, there is more than enough to hold your interest.

In fact, there will be opportunities to try winter activities that could become your personal solution to the seasonal blues.

And, the best part is that it is all free.

For many, one of the best parts is the warming food and drink available to ward off the occasional chill.

So far, the weather appears to be cooperative for most of the planned events.

This is one event not to miss.
