FALCONER, N.Y. - Kenny Peters delivered a championship performance Saturday at the Falconer Wrestling Tournament, winning the 220-pound weight class and helping the Knights to a sixth-place finish in the team standings.
While Peters' was the only wrestler to win his weight class, a total of five other Eisenhower wrestlers delivered top three-finishes. Trevor Spicer was second at 182 pounds, Jake Johnson was third at 195 pounds, Steven Haner third at 106 pounds, Jeb Fedorchuk third at 120 pounds and Dylan Baker third at 126 pounds.
Peters finished his undefeated weekend with a nailbiting bout against region rival Parris Warner of Harbor Creek. In a back and forth bout that featured several lead changes, it was Peters who claimed the final lead change of the evening, winning 9-7 and claiming his first tournament title of the season.
At 182 pounds, Ike's Spicer almost finished a dream of a week with a tournament. Earlier this week, Spicer delivered the deciding victory in the Knights' 34-33 victory over county rival Youngsville.
This time, things didn't go Spicer's way and -while he wrestled well - Spicer finished the tournament in second after a dropping a close 4-2 decision to Frewsburg standout Austin Lynn.
Four other Eisenhower grapplers had to work their way back through the consolation brackets on Saturday, but that didn't stop them from making it a memorable tournament experience.

All four wrestlers advanced to the consolation finals and, to make things even sweeter, all four wrestlers won to claim third-place finishes.
The first third-place finish was provided by 195-pounder Johnson. Johnson erased the memory of an earlier week loss to rival Jaykup Durlin of Youngsville with a 10-5 consy finals win over Dusty Lewis of Salamanca.
Haner was the next Knight to make the mat and, keeping with the theme of the day, the Ike wrestler gutted out a close win to finish the tournament on a high note. In his final match of the tournament, Haner wrestled smart in a 3-1 win over Falconer's Jacob Peru.
Fedorchuk (120 pounds) and Baker (126 pounds) took the mat in back-to-back consy finals matches and ended the Knights' action at the tournament with back-to-back wins. Fedorchuk had to gut out an overtime period to get past opponent Kyle Ross, 3-2. Baker didn't need any extra time to dispose of Ripley's Nolan Hunt, 4-1.
The homestanding Golden Falcons won the team title, finishing with 176.5 points. Harbor Creek was second with 171 points followed by Union City, Ripley, Jamestown and the Knights.
Frewsburg's Nick Mitchell ran his season record to 29-0, winning the 170-pound title and earning the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler award.
