This weekend will mark the return of the The Warren County Outdoor & Travel Show to the Warren Mall.
Started last year with high hopes for success, the show exceeded those hopes, drawing more people to that venue than any time in this century, thousands in fact.
This year's show promises to be even bigger and just as popular as the mall's concourse and many of its empty store fronts will be filled with exhibitors, demonstrations, and vendors that cover the full range of outdoor activities, from hunting and fishing to hiking and camping.
The show is not just a success for its organizers, but a sort of barometer for an important segment of the recreational and tourism economy that we believe will become an even more important part of the overall economy of this area over the next several years.
Warren County must continue to lure manufacturers and other commercial enterprises, but it also must realize that a dollar added to the local economy from tourism is just as valuable as a dollar added from other sources.
The success of the Warren County Outdoor and Travel Show is an indication that those activities have a broad consumer base that is willing to travel and spend to pursue those activities.
We are certain that this year's show will at least match last year's success and has a very good chance of exceeding it as word spreads about its opportunities for both exhibitors and visitors.
