Tough decision
Sheffield's Brandon Johnston, top, battles for a 2-1 decision Wednesday night at home against Port Allegany.
Despite coming out on the wrong end of the 65-9 score, Sheffield coach Jack Rice was upbeat.
"Brandon Johnston was the star of the night," he said. "He beat a kid who pinned him last year. The kids wrestled hard tonight. We were out seven starters, so I'm proud of the guys. We will have a different lineup next week."
Wednesday night did not start out well for the Wolverines. They lost their first four matches in a convincing fashion.
Johnston gave the fans something to cheer about at 126 pounds. He earned a 2-1 decision to give the Wolverines their first points of the night.
Sheffield lost five of the next six matches - the only other win being a forfeit victory. The Wolverines next host Bradford on Tuesday.
