GIRLS HOOPS: Lady Wolverines earn second win

RIDGWAY - Sheffield earned its second win of the season on Tuesday, beating winless Ridgway 45-31 at Ridgway High School.

Sheffield started strong with a 10-2 run to open the game, "then we started to play at their pace," said Sheffield coach Jeff Labesky, whose Wolverines are 2-10 overall. Ridgway is 0-11.

"We regrouped at halftime," he said, "and changed the pace."

Sheffield held Ridgway to one field goal in a 12-2 third quarter.

Hannah Vile had 11 points and a season-high 18 rebounds - eight on the offensive glass.

Jen Isenberg led Sheffield with 16 points, Juli Ely had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Abby Labesky seven assists.

ERIE - "The third quarter was our downfall," said Tidioute Charter coach Ted Nuttall, whose Bulldogs dropped to 0-8 despite its closest game of the season.

Tidioute trailed 19-12 at halftime after a 6-6 second quarter, but went scoreless in the third and went down by 13.

Lacy Wolford scored all five of her points in a 9-6 Tidioute fourth quarter. Loralee Lindemuth led TCCS with six points.
