Youngsville may have dominated the football field, but the Eisenhower Knights own the hardwood when it comes to the Eagles and Knights' county rivalry.
The latest chapter in the hoops side of the rivalry was dominated by Eisenhower on Tuesday as the Knights handed the Eagles a lopsided 72-19 defeat at Eisenhower High School.
While the final score may indicate otherwise, Eisenhower coach Dave Allenson was not entirely pleased with the effort - not early on anyway.

Eisenhower’s Ryan Williams, with ball, is surrounded by three Youngsville defenders during boys basketball action Tuesday at Eisenhower High School. Defending for the Eagles are, from left, Coll Dininny, Tom Chapman and Colin Lehnen. The Knights defeated the Eagles, 72-19.
"I didn't think we were playing well enough on defense," he said. "I let the boys know about it at halftime and they picked up the intensity in the second half. Tonight was a good night to work on some things we need to improve on."
One thing that Allenson can smile about is the recent success of his Knights team. With the victory, Eisenhower improves to 6-5 and has won four straight outings. The Knights haven't tasted defeat since December 27.
Youngsville, on the other hand, is still looking for that elusive first victory. The Eagles are 0-10 and have lost 25 straight overall.
Eisenhower wasted little time in making sure this contest would be a Knights victory. It only led 9-5 after the first period, but the hosts tallied 28 second quarter points in taking a 37-10 lead into the break.
The second half was more of the same with the Knights outscoring the Eagles, 35-9, and limiting Youngsville to just three additional field goals.
A balanced Eisenhower scoring effort featured three players in double figures and two more on the verge. Josh Deppas led all scorers with 14 points while Colin Shine and Aaron Lundmark each deposited 13 points. Ryan Williams and Joe Rutsky finished with nine points each.
Coll Dininny paced the Youngsville squad with eight points and Broc Horn finished with six. No other Eagle scored more than two points.
Tuesday's junior varsity game was just as one-sided with the Knights earning a 46-6 triumph. Kyle Hunt and Jarrett Johnson scored 12 points apiece for the winners. Josh Taydus had four markers in defeat for the Eagles.
Youngsville visits Maplewood Tuesday. Eisenhower will travel to Otto-Eldred on Saturday.
