UNION CITY - Katie Chuzie knocked down three three-pointers and the Youngsville Lady Eagles advanced to the finals of the Union City Tournament with a 47-34 semifinal victory over the host Bears Wednesday at Union City High School.
"We weren't able to knock down some of our easier shots, but the girls made up for that with a lot of hustle," said Youngsville girls coach Allison Kitchel whose Eagles improve to 3-4. "I was very happy with that."
The Eagles will now play Reynolds in the tournament's championship game scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday.
After an evenly played first quarter, the Eagles were able to carve out a lead in the second quarter, outscoring the hosts 19-7. The 12-point margin in the second quarter was easily the biggest difference in the game as the remaining three quarters were played extremely equal.
Chuzie's three deep balls were part of a game-high 15-point effort. Amber Fox also reached double figures with 10 points and Lindsey Lyon and Jessica Jameson both finished with eight points.

Consolation Game
Warren 61, Erie East 33
SENECA - The Warren girls rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 61-33 consolation game victory over Erie East Wednesday at Cranberry High School.
The Lady Dragons (6-1) started the game on an 11-0 run and were never seriously challenged by the Lady Warriors.
"We came out in the first quarter with an 11-0 run," said Warren coach Lisa Ruhlman. "From there, we played hard on defense and scored when we could."
East settled down after Warren's early onslaught and the Dragons led 21-10 after the opening quarter. However, the Lady Dragons put together another surge in the second quarter and built the lead to 21 points by intermission.
The pace slowed in the second half with the Lady Dragons being held to just 24 points. That was fine by Ruhlman, however, as Warren's defense allowed just 17 more points from the opposition.
"It was a good game to get back on track after last night's loss," Ruhlman added.
Emily Sherman had a solid outing for the winners, scoring a team-best 16 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and adding four assists. Jaimie Eaton added 15 points and six assists and Sabrina Anderson filled the stat sheet with six points, four assists and four steals.
Warren's junior varsity team was a 29-24 winner over Cranberry. Amy Castagnino's eight points were tops for Warren.
Warren has awhile to wait before playing another game. The team is scheduled to host Harbor Creek next - but that game doesn't come around until January 9.
