Sheffield's boys basketball team scored enough points in the second quarter alone to come away with a win Wednesday as the defense limited Otto-Eldred to just 20 points in a 60-20 victory at Sheffield High School.
The Wolverines netted 21 points in the second quarter.
"They went full speed all game tonight," said Sheffield coach Todd Fitch. "When we play that kind of game it really opens things up for us."

Sheffield outscored Otto 16-5 in the first quarter, even though the Wolverines missed on some breakaway opportunities. Defensively, the Wolverines were able to generate a number of turnovers which led to easy transition points.
In the second quarter Sheffield tried to run more of its set plays, but the shots wouldn't fall early. By the midpoint of the quarter, the transition game had picked up again which opened up some perimeter shots. The Wolverines outscored the Terrors 21-6 in the second to take a 37-11 lead into halftime.
"It was good to see the guys stay focused (in a game like this)," Fitch said. "We needed to run through some set plays. Tonight was an important game for us to prepare for Smethport as they run the same zone defense (as Otto)."
The Wolverines limited the Terrors to just nine points in the second half, even though the starters played sparingly.
"We're lucky enough to have six seniors this year, which allows us to keep the juniors together on the JV squad," Fitch said. "It worked well for us to get (the juniors) more varsity time tonight."
Nick Bonavita led all scorers with 23 points. Kalil Slaughter also finished in double figures with 10 points.
The Wolverines will be at home again on Friday as they host Smethport.
Brendan Winslow finished with 19 points and Dylan McNeal and Tyler Fitzgerald both added 10 points to lead the Sheffield JV team to a 66-14 win.
