EDINBORO - Warren had its share of highlights, but they were too few and far between during a 56-18 loss to the General McLane Lancers Tuesday evening in Edinboro.

"We were just out horse powered in some areas tonight," said Warren coach Glenn Baldensperger. "We knew it was going to be a challenge and a lot of the guys stepped up and wrestled well. We just didn't have enough tonight."

The Dragons got wins in the 182, 285, 126 and 132-pound weight classes on Tuesday. The Lancers had jumped out to a 28-0 advantage in the match before Chris McNeal delivered a second period pin at 182 pounds. His opponent - Jamie Szymanowski - entered the night ranked third in District 10 Class AAA, according to bflywrestling.com.

Warren's next winner was 285-pounder Robert Brown. Brown and McLane's Ethan Strobel were tied after one period before the Dragons big man took his opponent to his back in period two. At the 2:56 mark of the match, the referee's hand slapped the mat, cutting the match deficit to 40-12.

Warren freshman D.J. Fehlman continues to impress during his first season, adding his biggest victory to date on Tuesday. Fehlman matched up with McLane senior Nate Ferrick and controlled the bout throughout, winning a 6-0 decision.

Ferrick, a senior, was fourth at the D-10 Class AAA Championships last season and was ranked second in D-10 at 126 pounds, according to bfly. Fehlman entered the match ranked third in the district.

Despite the loss, Warren ended the evening on a high note when 132-pounder Jonah Hordusky earned a hard-fought 5-3 decision over the Lancers' Ken Stahl.

Warren's week doesn't get any easier as it is scheduled to host McDowell on Thursday.

Saegertown 55, Youngsville 9

SAEGERTOWN - Saegertown was able to come away with six pins and cruised to a 55-9 victory over Youngsville on the mat Tuesday at Saegertown High School.

"We wrestled a very tough team," said Youngsville coach Scott Ishman, whose Eagles were tied for first place in Region 3 with Fort LeBoeuf and Saegertown at 2-0 before Tuesday's match.

Saegertown won by pin at 113, 126, 132, 152, 182 and 285.

The Panthers also got a major decision at 145.

Youngsville got a pin from Josh Lewis at 160 and a 3-2 decision win by Jaykup Durlin at 220 as both wrestlers stayed hot. Jeremy Lyon lost a tough 7-6 decision at 170.

The Eagles will take the mat again Friday as they host winless Seneca in another region contest.

"Actually, the kids did wrestle pretty hard, and kept that fire and drive," said Ishman. "We've still got some inexperience, and this will show them what they need to do. They see now what they need to work on, whether it be conditioning or on the mat.

"Jeremy Lyon lost 7-6 at 170, getting up a weight - he's giving up a few pounds and actually wrestled real well," he said. "A few more seconds and he would have won that.

"We're 2-1 now and we're doing it with a light team," said Ishman.

The Eagles host Seneca on Thursday.

Harbor Creek 51, Eisenhower 24

HARBORCREEK - What started well, ended quickly for Eisenhower's wrestling team.

Trevor Spicer and Jake Johnson started the night off with pins at 182 pounds and 195, respectively, before 10 Harbor Creek wins in the next 12 matches.

Huskies' pins at 152, 160 and 170 in a combined 98 seconds ended the match at 51-24 HarborCreek.

It could have been closer if two overtime losses and a late pin had gone the other way for Ike.

"We lost both overtime matches and we, honestly, should have won both matches," said Ike coach Kris Black. "Heffy (Jordan Hefferman) had his chances to win against a regional qualifier last year."

Hefferman lost 8-6 on overtime to Parris Warner at 220, and Tim Lange lost 10-6 in OT at 138.

Black pointed out that Robbie Wilston "wrestled a pretty tough kid" at 145, getting pinned in 5:30 to Jake Newaris.

"We're just not there yet," said Black. "We have a lot of work to do over the course of the next week or so."
