This Holiday Season, VALU Home Centers will do its part to raise spirits at The Salvation Army. On Thursday morning at the VALU Home Center located at Elmwood and Hertel Ave. in Buffalo, N.Y., Michael A. Ervolina, Jr., president of VALU Home Centers presented a check for $44,340 to Major Thomas Applin from The Salvation Army. The check represents VALU's donation from the sale of Winter Salvation Kits throughout the company's 41 retail home centers.
VALU sold over 8,800 of the Winter Salvation Kits throughout Western New York, Central New York, and Northwestern Pennsylvania for $19.88 each and donated $5.00 from each kit to The Salvation Army. All money raised will remain in the communities where it was collected. With this year's check VALU has now donated more than $475,000 through the Winter Salvation promotion.
The money raised by the Winter Salvation promotion is used by The Salvation Army to provide needy families with food, warm clothing, and toys.
