Warren County Christian School opened its season Friday with a 30-12 loss to Christian Life Academy.
While the Lady Lions saw their losing streak continue, second-year coach Rae Parmeter was pleased with the progress she saw in her team.
"Last year CLA beat us 54-17," she said. "This year, we were able to hold them to just 30 points by playing incredible defense. Tonight was a vast improvement. These girls have come so far in such a small amount of time."
Parmeter added that the game could've been a lot closer, however, the hosts were unable to convert some key offensive opportunities.
"A lot of the good shots we were able to get just wouldn't fall tonight," she said.
Alyssa Kerr led the Lady Lions with eight points while Dymphee Zortman and Jessica Lauffenburger added two points each. Kim Drake led WCCS with five rebounds and Kerr and Christina Girard added four boards each. Girard blocked three shots and Zortman had three steals.
WCCS was a 22-14 winner in the junior varsity game. Lauffenburger had a game-high 12 points in the victory.
WCCS (0-1) returns to action Thursday at Erie First Assembly.
