Nick Bonavita's 99-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter sealed Sheffield's 28-8 Allegheny Mountain League win over Cameron County on Friday. Bonavita's run also put an exclamation point on Sheffield's resurgence in the 2011 football season. Prior to Thursday's non-league game at Union, the Wolverines had won four of six games and stamped its first-ever trip to any high school football playoffs, according to head coach Bryan Gould, as the fourth seed in District 9 Class AA. Bonavita is a big reason why with over 800 total yards and eight touchdowns for 4-6 Sheffield. The senior finished last week's game with 17 carries for 186 yards and three total touchdowns, no bigger than the 99-yard run for the ages. He is the Times Observer Athlete of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's.
