and Parade
The Sugar Grove Elementary School held its Annual Halloween Parties and Parade around town on Monday. All students were decked out in their finest costumes and looked awesome. Teachers, Parents volunteers and students were led by members of the Eisenhower Knights Varsity Football Team in a parade throughout the town. Along the route, various businesses and community members handed out treats to all the students. Upon the return to school, the remainder of the afternoon was filled with the fun activities of the Halloween parties. The 5th graders had the opportunity to spend time doing football activities with the Eisenhower Knights. Thank you to all the parent volunteers, the business leaders, and numerous people that help make this day a success.
Soup and Dessert
Fundraiser
The Sugar Grove Free Library is once again planning to have the successful 6th annual soup, dessert and book fundraiser. It will be held at the library on Tuesday, Nov. 8, (Election Day), at 11 a.m. until all supplies are gone. The types of soups we will have will be a choice of the ever popular cheesy potato or the delicious vegetable beef. There will also be bread, crackers, and a choice of dessert, donated by some of our best Sugar Grove hometown bakers. Dine in or carry out. There will also be a huge book sale with many books and DVD's materials to browse through. The cost for the event is just a donation to the library with our thanks. If you would like more information, or are interested in donating ingredients for the soup or making a dessert, contact the library staff at 489-7872. Mark your calendars to attend this event on Election Day.
Craft and
Vendor Show
The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department will be the place for the Holiday Craft and Vendor show on Saturday, Nov. 19th. Three is room for dozens vendors to have tables at the show. If you would like to be scheduled to have a table for the sale, there is still room for more. Please contact Linda York at 489-7750 for more information

Lunch Schedule
A community lunch is provided at the local area churches. The first Friday of each month lunch is provided at the Mission Covenant Church. The 2nd Thursday lunch is provided at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. The third Wednesday lunch is provided at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
Stamp Class Planned
The Sugar Grove Free Library will be hosting "Stamp out the Winter Blues!" Greeting Card and Rubber Stamping Classes will be on Monday, Nov. 14 from 6 -8 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 12 from 6 -8 p.m. This event is fun for all skill levels. At each class, you will create two greeting cards. With the first card you will be using punches, markers, and glitter to create backgrounds. With the second card you will be using stamp positioner and a die cut machine. Techniques you will learn include double inking, stamping off, and embossing. The cost is just $6 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. Call 489-7872 to reserve a spot.
Zumba
Wendy Carrington a certified Zumba instructor, will be offering classes in the Sugar Grove area. They will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at the Sugar Grove Elementary School from 3:45-4:30 p.m. and at the Lander United Methodist Church on Saturdays at 8 a.m. This fall session will run from now until Nov. 21. Come and check it out if you are interested. If you have any questions, you can call Wendy at 563-1690. Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness class. It is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow calorie burning dance fitness party that's moving millions of people toward joy and health.
Second Harvest
Food Pantry
The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church located at 210 Jamestown Street is the host site for the Northern part of Warren County for this program. Second Harvest is the major supplier of food to charitable agencies throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania. They obtain products from the organization's warehouse and distribute them to individuals and families facing hard times in 11 counties. The next Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Parent Teacher
Conference Day
The Warren County School District will be holding their fall Parent Teachers Conference Day on Monday, Nov. 14. Contact your child's school ahead of time to schedule your appointment to speak with teachers. There will be no regular classes scheduled for students on this day.
Harvest Dinner
The Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church on Jackson Run Road will be hosting a harvest Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 4 7 p.m. The cost is a donation and the proceeds will benefit needy local families at Christmas time. For more information you can contact Pastor Larry at 489-3142.
Child Shoeboxes
Many churches and organizations in the area are packing shoe boxes to send overseas with Operation Christmas Child. The program each year is sponsored by the Samaritan's Purse Organization. Each shoebox packed with simple Christmas gifts and is then shipped overseas to children in need. More than 8 million children received boxes last year. Since 1993 the organization has provided boxes to 130 different countries. If you would like to contribute a shoebox this year, contact a local church or scouting organization for their deadlines. Most boxes will need to be collected by the week of Nov. 14.
Citrus and Soup Sale
Eisenhower Choir Support Club is selling citrus (oranges, grapefruit and tangelos) from Florida Indian River Groves and Cooke Tavern Soup mixes. The community is invited to support this fundraiser by buying from a choir family or by calling Donna Blair at 489-5657 or the EMHS music room at 757-9357. Deadline for orders and payment is Nov. 15. Citrus and soups will be delivered to you Friday, December 2.
Knight Time Drama
Eisenhower Knight-time Players will be presenting their fall production of "Play On", a comedy by Rick Abbot, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Nov. 17, 18, 19, at 7 p.m. in the Eisenhower Auditorium. This humorous play deals with a group of community members trying to produce a play whose author continually changes lines and characters. The play is very funny, but especially so to anyone who has ever been involved in theatre. Those people will recognize the situations, the lines and the frustration of trying to produce a play!! Lines such as "I do know my lines, I just don't know where to say them," will bring back memories of many rehearsals. For those who have not been involved in a production, the play will prove to be a humorous and realistic look into the world of theatre.
The cast includes students in grades 8-12, and tickets are available at the door. Door prizes will also be given each night- a different basket theme each night for adults, and food certificates and a chance to win a yearbook for students.
Treasure Sale
The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will hold its annual Holiday Treasure Sale on Saturday, Nov. 19th from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. This is a "silent auction" of merchandise, services, holiday decorations, gift certificates, toys, food, crafts, and more.
During the designated time of the sale, the public may place written bids on any items they wish. All items are new and will be awarded to the highest bidder. Bidders do not need to be present when the bids are opened after 2 p.m. High bidders will be contacted. Proceeds of the sale are used for the maintenance and upkeep of the church and its parsonage.
Back by popular demand are the Cookie Corner and the Sweet Shoppe, with a large variety of homemade cookies and candies which are pre-priced and available for immediate sale. There will also be a "Kids' Korner" where shopping is limited to children, and nothing is priced over $1. Gift wrapping is free, and Santa will be on hand to take "extra-early" orders from the children.
Sandwiches and ice cream sundaes will be available for a nominal charge for those who need a snack.
Junior District Choir
Representing Eisenhower Middle High School at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Junior District Chorus Event on Nov. 11-12 in Corry, are Taylor John, Riley Alstad, Julia Bauer, Allan Jackson, and Sharon Harrington. They will join singers from throughout IU5 to rehearse together and present a Saturday afternoon concert.
