Craft show set

Child's Fingerprinting

Northwest Savings Bank and the Youngsville Police Department will be holding child fingerprinting day on Friday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Youngsville Northwest Savings Bank office. This is a free service to the community.

Otterbein UMC Bash

There will be an Elementary Bash on Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. for all elementary children at the Pittsfield Otterbein UMC. Parents are welcome, too. The event is free. We will have free popcorn and drinks, games, prizes and a live band.

Other snacks will be available to purchase with proceeds going to the playground fund.

Calling all Cub Scouts

Boy Scouts Troop 22 and Order of the Arrow are hosting the "Spook-A-Rama" on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Irvine Presbyterian Church on National Forge Road in Irvine. The spooky evening of frightful fun activities includes games, refreshments, and a haunted walk. Parents and siblings are also welcome to attend.

BSA Troop 22 will also have apple cider for sale. If you have any questions, call Karen Wilcox at home 726-3453 or at work 563-7548.

Scrap Drive

Hosted by the Youngsville Eagle Instrumental Boosters, Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Davis Street in Youngsville. No item is too big or too small.

If you have a large item that you are unable to haul, call 688-5263 and we will come pick it up.

Luncheon Benefit

Join us for a soup and dessert luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, Joy Hall, starting at 11:30 a.m. until gone.

Serving homemade cheesy broccoli, chicken noodle, chili or vegetable beef soups and a variety of home-baked desserts.

The cost is a donation of your choosing. All proceeds will be given to the Zaffino family.

Trunk or Treat

The Youngsville Free Methodist Church will once again be hosting "Trunk or Treat" during Youngsville Trick or Treat hours on Monday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Anyone interested in decorating their car (and themselves) can call the church office at 563-9009 to reserve a spot. Make sure to include the Joy Hall on East Main Street when you're planning your route.

Soup Kitchen Reopens

The Youngsville Free Methodist Church has re-opened the 'soup kitchen' in Joy Hall. Food will be served each Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. All family members are welcome.

The meal for Nov. 2 will be chicken and biscuits. The meal is free. For more information, call the YFMC office at 563-9009.

Boys Basketball

Registration has begun for the Youngsville Elementary Boys' Basketball Season. Any boy in grades 3 through 6 who would like to play in the basketball league may register. Cost is $20 per player.

To obtain a registration form, email yemsbiddyball@hotmail.com or call 688-6152. Registration deadline is Nov. 7, and the season will begin in December.

YEMS Fundraiser

Youngsville Elementary Middle School PTO is selling Butter Braid Pastries for its new fundraiser.

Sales will be Tuesday, Oct. 25 through Tuesday, Nov. 8. Delivery will be on Nov. 22.

Spaghetti Dinner

The YHS Alumni Homecoming Committee will be holding a spaghetti dinner on Election Night, Nov. 8 at the Joy Hall beside the Free Methodist Church. This event is open to the public for a donation. We will start serving at 4 p.m. until gone.

St. Francis

Holiday Open House

The St. Francis of Assisi Church will host a holiday shopping event on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 343 E. Main St.

Check out what local vendors have for unique holiday gifts. Hand-painted items, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, Uppercase Living, homemade quilts, and several other unique items from local vendors. Admission is free. Get a jump on your holiday shopping.

Rouse Manor Luncheon

Saron Lutheran Church provided lunch for 20 residents and aides at the Rouse Manor Apartments on Monday, Oct. 17. This monthly luncheon includes a fellowship time. The next luncheon will be on Monday, Nov. 21 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon and the menu is ham and scalloped potatoes.

Winter Wonderland

Craft Show

The annual Winter Wonderland Craft Show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Youngsville Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be 75 vendor tables offering many gift items, from handmade ornaments, hand-crafted household items, apparel, jewelry, jams, fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, to one of a kind art work, to mention only a few, just in time for holiday shoppers.

Food will be available throughout the event and plenty of Chinese auctions items will be raffled off. Sponsored by Youngsville Fireman's Auxiliary and admission is free.

Box Top Collection

Youngsville Elementary/Middle School will be collecting box tops throughout the course of the 2011-2012 school year. Community members are encouraged to collect box tops and submit them to the main office.

Each box top collected will provide 10 cents to our school. All money collected from the box tops will go to programs and supplies that benefit the students.
