Knights top Sheffield in county clash

Eisenhower's first of two county showdowns in two days went well Monday as the Knights picked up a 3-0 victory over county foe Sheffield.

The Knights were victorious, defeating the Wolverines 25-18 in the first set, 25-23 in the second set and 25-14 in the third and final set.

Courtney Flynn had a solid evening for the Knights with eight aces and four kills. Teammate Alyssa Peterson added five kills and one block and Lexi Dalrymple chipped in four kills and three blocks. According to Ike coach Tom Firth, Kelsey Repke had a "great night" with a team-beat six digs from her defensive position.

Sheffield won a hard-fought junior varsity match, 2-1. The Wolverines dropped the first game 17-25 before winning the final two 25-16, 15-6.

Eisenhower (5-6) returns to action Tuesday, hosting Warren while Sheffield (0-11) looks for its first win at Bradford.

Venango Catholic 3, TCCS 0

OIL CITY - Tidioute Community Charter School dropped a three-set match to Venango Catholic on Monday,18-25, 20-25,17-25.

The Lady Bulldogs have been dealing with injuries in recent times and struggled while trying to gel on the court.

"This is our third different lineup due to injuries that we've had in the last three games," said TCCS coach Margie Manning. "We were a little out of sync."

For the Lady Bulldogs, Ryleigh Mahahey had three kills and three aces. Teammate Robbi Kitelinger had one kill and four aces and Lacy Wolford added four aces in the loss.

TCCS' junior varsity team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Lady Vikings. TCCS won the opener 25-23 before dropping the final two games 11-25 and 9-15.

TCCS (3-4) is back in action Thursday at home against Erie First Christian.
