Blackman receives award
Daniel G. Blackman, formerly of Warren, currently residing in Philadelphia, has been selected for the Art Directors Club of New York City Young Guns 9 award.
The Art Directors Club, the leading organization for integrated media and the first global creative collective of its kind, has announced 50 young creatives from 14 countries to receive this prestigious award. The Young Guns 9 award is the only international and portfolio-based awards competition that identifies today's young creative professionals age 30 and younger.
Blackman is currently a senior designer with 160 over 90, a major branding agency in Philadelphia. Prior to 160 over 90 he worked for VSA Partners and Sapient Nitro in Chicago. His award winning portfolio will be exhibited in New York City as part of the awards ceremony being held October 13th.
Blackman is the son of Linda and Thomas Jensen and the late James Blackman of Warren and Kathy Blackman of Bluffton, SC.
Kane Hardwood plans meeting
The Kane Hardwood Division of Collins Pine Co. will hold a public meeting on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Kane Volunteer Fire Dept. on Poplar St. The forestry staff will present an overview of the management of Collins Pine Company's forest lands in Pennsylvania. The Collins Pennsylvania Forest (CPF) is made up of 170 individual properties totaling 118,000 acres in seven counties of NW Pennsylvania.
The CPF is managed primarily for the sustainable production of forest
products and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Most of the logs harvested from the CPF are processed at the Kane Hardwood facility. All of the CPF is open to the public for hunting, fishing and non-motorized recreation.

Cathy Stout named to hospital board
Cathy (Shanshala) Stout, formerly of Warren, was recently elected to serve on the board of Lewistown Hospital in Lewistown. Stout is a 1991 graduate of Warren Area High School. She received her bachelor's degree in health policy and administration from Penn State in 1995. She works as the assistant to the director at University Health Services at Penn State University. She resides in Lewistown with her husband and son.
