PrimeTime Series continues
The JCC PrimeTime Series continues with the second session of "Eat Well, Live Well" from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St. (upstairs at the TAWC building). Learn about basic nutrition including food groups, dietary needs as we age and how to maintain a healthy weight. Suggestions on how to eat to manage diabetes, hypertension and how to read labels will be included. Learn to identify portions and healthy snack habits.
"Living Well with Parkinsons Disease" will be presented from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Information will describe Parkinsons disease, medical management and treatment, coping skills, community resources and planning for the future. Patients with Parkinsons and their families are encouraged to attend.
Also on Oct. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., "Beermaking at Home" will be presented by an award-winning instructor. Participants will learn the easy steps of brewing stovetop beer using malt extract.
Finally, on Dec. 6, "Holiday Centerpieces" will be presented from 1 to 3 p.m. Create a beautiful arrangement for your table using holly, boxwood, Douglas fir, white pine and other fresh evergreens. Decorate it with ribbon loops and Christmas balls.

Movie Monday
Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue Sept. 26. This event will be free of charge. All movies now begin at 5:30 p.m. and are shown in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Thanks to donations, complimentary popcorn will be available. This animated PG-13 rated, 130-minute film stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, and Natalie Portman. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth. Pie social
The youth group of St. Francis Church, Youngsville, will have a pie social from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the church.
Fowler at market
Jeff Fowler, County Extension Director will be at the Warren Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 1. In addition to being the County Extension Director in Venango, Warren and Forest counties, Fowler is the turf grass educator for the west region. He is active on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Chapter of Sports Turf Managers (KAFMO) and is currently serving on the board of directors for the National Sports Turf Managers Association. He will present a program, "Putting your garden to Bed," at the Penn State Master Gardener booth and will be available for horticulture questions, advice and conversation along with the Master Gardeners.
