Walker completes Advanced School of Banking with highest honors

Shawn Walker, vice president of marketing at Northwest Savings Bank, has completed coursework at the 2011 Pennsylvania Bankers Association Advanced School of Banking at the Penn State Conference Center in State College.

He was awarded the Philip O. Benham Jr. Leadership Award and was the only member of the 31-person class to graduate with highest honors.

Walker is responsible for planning, budgeting, execution and tracking of all the marketing, advertising and communications programs at Northwest Savings across the four states it serves, its 169 offices and all of its subsidiary companies.

The PBA Advanced School of Banking is a three-year program that expands the knowledge acquired at the PBA School of Banking. The program is designed for professionals looking to continue their educational experience in addition to those preparing to lead upper-level positions within their organization. The program consists of 200- 300- and 400-level college courses with the Bank Exec Asset/ Liability simulation comprising a significant portion of Year III. The three-year program provides a variety of learning techniques including lectures, small group teamwork, computer simulations, case studies, peer presentations, independent study and home extension problems.

The Pennsylvania Bankers Association, located in Harrisburg, is the state's largest banking trade association. It offers extensive continuing education programs, government relations representation on behalf of the industry, and provides numerous products and services for banks and their employees.
