Downey honored
Jane Downey, left, was honored Sunday at St. John’s Church for her 30-plus years of service as Director of Religious Education, with a cake and coffee reception. Melissa Sabella on right, has accepted the position as the new director.
There will be bingo tonight at the Tidioute Firehall.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. Early bird begins at 6 p.m. and the regular games begin immediately following the early bird games.

Thursday will be chicken tenders sub, tatter tots and dessert.
Monday, September 5 Closed for Labor Day
Tuesday, stuffed peppers, or stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, vegetables and dessert.
Thursday will be macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, dessert.
Victorian Tea
Presbyterian Church will be hosting a Ladies Victorian Tea on Saturday from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in the social room.
Menu consists of scones, salad, and as assortment of desserts, hot and cold beverages.
Cost is $10 per person and tickets can be purchased from Barb Downey at 589-7508 or Lynda Graves at 484-3649 or any of the ladies of the Women's Association.
Proceeds will benefit the Church Restoration Fund.
Mobile food pantry
The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania will hold a mobile food pantry in Tidioute this Saturday.
It will begin at 10 a.m. at the Tidioute Firehall.
This distribution of groceries is for the residents of Tidioute area only who are in need of food assistance. There is no pre-sign, and participation is free.
Food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. The mobile food pantry is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Warren County. The site is sponsored by St. John Church of Tidioute.

Downey honored
Jane Downey was honored on Sunday after the 11 a.m. Mass at St. John Church for her 30 plus years of service as Director of Religious Education.
Nearly 75 people attended the cake and coffee reception.
Melissa Sabella has accepted the position as the new director of education.

Classes are Sundays from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the St. John Center beginning on Sunday, Sept. 11.
Students and their families are invited to an ice cream social following the Sept. 11 Mass.
Turkey Party
There will be a Turkey Party on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Tidioute Firehall.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the games begin at 7:30 p.m.
Door prizes will be awarded from local merchants during the evening.
Beverages and chips will be provided and the kitchen will be open.
This event is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
50/50 raffle
Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee members are selling 50/50 tickets for a drawing that will be held on Sunday during the Turkey Party at the Tidioute Firehall.
Tickets are $1 each and winner need not be present to win, you will be notified.
All unsold tickets become property of Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament.
Knights Of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus, Council of the Saints #9304 of Tidioute will hold their general monthly meeting this Thursday, September 1 at ST John's Center at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
All members are asked to attend this very important meeting.
With the fishing tournament coming up soon final plans need to be made for that weekend.
VFD Auxiliary
Those wishing to join the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary are invited to come to the firehall on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
This will be the first meeting to get organized and set other meetings.
Several topics will need to be addressed at this meeting and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Watson Grange
The charter was draped in memory of Judy Martin at the recent meeting of Watson Grange which was presided over by Master Bob Hollabaugh.
Those who participated along with Hollabaugh were Betty Berry, Miranda Irons, John and Deanna Hollabaugh and Kelly VanOrd.
Winners are the Warren County Fair in the Grange were announced as follows: Exhibits: First Place went to Forest; second place was Watson Jr. and third was Watson Subordinate. Non perishable items are being collected to be taken to State Grange in October and also items for the troops are being collected.
Bob and Jean Hollabaugh will serve as delegates to PA State Grange in Harrisburg October 15 through the 17.
Watson Grange will have a float in the Fishing Tournament Parade and they are still collecting glass ware for the Dime Pitch and they will be selling freeze pops.
PA State Grange Youth Couple Matt and Miranda Irons presented the program on Youth Camp and the Family Festival.
The next auction at Pomona Grange will be September 17 at 1 p.m.
Watson Grange will meet again on Thursday September 8 at 7:30 p.m. with a pot luck for refreshments.
Nunsensations
ST John Church Ladies Guild will be car pooling to the Sawmill Theater in Cooks Forest on Thursday, Sept. 8 for the 8 p.m. performance of Nunsensations.
The car pool will leave St. John Center at 4:30 p.m. and stop for dinner at the Trails End Restaurant. Dinner is on your own from the menu.
Tickets to the Musical Show are $14 per person.

Parade entries
Any individual, business or organization wishing to participate in the upcoming Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament Parade with a theme of "Summer in Paradise" or a theme of "Historical Moments in America" your choice, should send your unit information to Sheryl Hulings, Elm Street, Tidioute, PA 16351 or call 730-4156, or contact Monica at 484-0244.
Pre-registration is helpful for the line up and making the streets with unit numbers.
Parade line up is at 10 a.m. with judging of units at 11 a.m. and the parade will start at 12 noon sharp, rain or shine.
All trophies and cash prizes will be presented at the Grand Stands on tournament grounds at least one hour after the parade. Time is needed to compile the totals and obtain the winners from the judges and then write the checks for the winners. Please have a representative from your group at the Grand Stand to receive your winnings.
Scramble canceled
The Golf Scramble for St John/ST Anthony for Sept. 17 has been canceled due to a conflict of interest.
Tournament schedule
Thursday, Sept. 22 the Carnival and Grounds will open at 6 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 23 Carnival and Grounds open at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 24 the scales open at 8 a.m. Kids Derby for ages 3 years to age 10 years, with no exceptions, starts at Benner Park at 9 a.m. and concludes at 11 a.m. This is sponsored by PSCFT and the Tidioute Lions Club. There will be bicycle drawn from all the entries in this contest. Once again this is for ages 3 to 10. Children only should be fishing, not parents or friends.
Arts and Crafts Show at Tidioute Firehall open from 9 a. m. till 3 p.m.
Parade line up is 10 a.m. starts at 12 noon sharp.
Grounds and Carnival open at noon
Door Prize drawings at 8 p.m.
Finalists for Saturday fishing will be announced at 8:30 p.m.
Junior Champion Angler for ages 9 though age 15 will be announced at 9 p.m.
All fishing persons ages 16 years or older must have a valid PA fishing license.
Carnival Rides and concessions are by Trowver of Gibsonton of Florida.
Pre-sale tickets
Anyone purchasing presale ride tickets will receive tickets for the bicycle giveaway.
Tickets are 4/$5 and if you purchase them early you can get 4 chances on one of the bicycles.
Bicycles are sponsored and donated by Knights of Columbus of Tidioute, Olive Temple Lodge of Tionesta and Presbyterian Women's Association.
Two will be used for the presale ticket drawing which will be held on Sunday, September 25, and one will be drawn at the Kids Derby on Saturday, September 24, from all those who enter this derby.
One-Pitch Tournament
The annual "One-Pitch Tournament" will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Tidioute ballfield across from the firehall.
Sign up is set for Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m. at Landmark.
There is a registration fee of $125, bring your rosters with you.
Checks should be made payable to Tidioute Area Recreation.

Bicycle decorating
Tidioute Towers Residents Association is sponsoring a bicycle decorating contest that will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m.
Location will be the Tidioute firehall.
All bicycles that are decorated will be in the parade on Sept. 24 at noon.
Registration must be received by Sept. 16 by Betty Johnson, 174 Main St. Apt 511, Tidioute, PA 16351
Registration forms can be picked up at Buccardo's Restaurant, Tidioute Trading Post or Polly's ShurSave Market.
