Playground dedication

Water balloon fun
Kids playing in a water balloon fight at the supervised summer playground. This program will resume next summer if enough interest is shown.

Ribbon cutting ceremony today at 11 a.m. for the dedication of the new playground equipment at the Tidioute Community Charter School.

Those who worked hard to see this project finished will be on hand for this dedication.

Bingo tonight

There will be Bingo at the Tidioute Firehall with doors opening at 5 p.m.

Early bird bingo at 6 p.m.

Regular Bingo will begin immediately following early bird.

Senior Center menu

Thursday, August 18 Picnic at Martha and Carl Walters home on McCauley Hill.

Monday, August 22 will be Lasagna, salad and dessert.

Tuesday, August 23 will be Ham, scalloped potatoes and dessert.

Thursday, August 25 will be Hamburg gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and dessert.

VFW picnic

Tidioute VFW Post 8803 will hold its annual picnic on Saturday, Aug. 20, members needed to sign up at the Post Home.

White elephant sale

Ladies Auxiliary members to VFW Post 8803 will be holding a White Elephant Sale at the annual picnic on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Anyone with items for this White Elephant Sale should have them wrapped and bring them to the picnic or drop them off at the VFW Post by Friday, August 19.

Swedish Union

Church Services

Allegheny Bible Church will hold Sunday Worship at Swedish Union Church on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m.

There will be no Sunday School that day.

Pastor Dale Timco extends an invitation for all who would like to attend, and he can be reached for directions at 730-3475.

Card shower

A card xShower is being held for the 100th birthday of Bertha Hunter on August 27, 2011.

Cards can be sent to Mrs. Bertha Hunter, P.O. Box 92, Endeavor, PA 16322

Event postings

Anyone hosting any type of event and has signs to post is reminded to not put them on any utility poles or trees.

This would include dinners, bake sales, yard sales/garage sales, car washes, races, etc.

They need to be posted on a post that you provide yourself.

Once your event is over the signs should be removed the day after the event.

Ladies Victorian Tea

Ladies, here is your chance to enjoy an old fashioned Ladies Victorian Tea.

The setting will be at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be savory scones (little finger sandwiches), spring salad, an assortment of desserts, hot and cold beverages.

Entertainment and door prizes are also planned.

Tickets are $10 each and you can contact Barb Downey at 589-7509 or Lynda Graves at 484-3649 or any of the other members of the Presbyterian Women's Association.

Proceeds will benefit the Presbyterian Church Restoration Fund.

Nunsensations

St. John's Ladies Guild is offering a trip to Sawmill Theater on Thursday, September 8 at 8 p.m. to see "Nunsensations", a musical.

Cost is $14 per person, dinner on your own at Trails Inn Restaurant from the menu.

Call Sandy Jamieson at 484-7286 to reserve tickets and transportation no later than August 29.

Car pooling from ST John Church leaving from ST John Center at 4:30 p.m.

Nunsensations! The Nunsense Vegas Revue takes the sisters on a brand new adventure. When a parishioner volunteers to donate $10,000 to the sisters' school if they will perform in a club in Las Vegas, Mother Superior is hesitant to accept. However, after being convinced by other sisters that "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" Reverend Mother agrees.

What follows is the most feather-filled, sequin-studded, fan dancing Nunsense show ever.

Golf scramble

St. John's and St. Anthony's Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Wanango Golf Club.

There is a 9 a.m. shotgun and is a four person scramble.

Entry fee is $55 per person which will include Green Fees, Riding Cart, Prizes and Lunch.

This is an all cash payout.

Prizes are contingent upon number of teams.

Men's, ladies and mixed teams are welcome.

Extra costs may include skins, mulligans, and fund raising games on the course.

Christian concert

There will be a free Christian concert on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Tidioute First United Methodist Church at 4 p.m.

All are welcome to attend.
