This week at Chapman

The following programs are planned at Chapman State Park this week:

Friday, Aug. 5: Salamander Safari

6-7:30 p.m.: Find out about salamanders of Pennsylvania, where they live, what they eat, what makes them so unique, and also where to find them. We'll head to Penny Run to catch and identify salamanders and newts. Wear Shoes you can get wet. Meet the Park Naturalist at Parking Lot #1.

9-10:30 p.m.: Double Feature Movie Night: Amphibians

Leap into a double life with frogs, toads and salamanders. Get a close up look at the amazing colors, shapes, and sizes in the amphibian family. Meet at the Amphitheater, Pavilion #4 in case of rain.

Saturday, Aug. 6: Rocket to Outer Space

4-5:30 p.m.: Learn how space shuttles are launched into space and then make your very own rocket to take home. Meet the Park Naturalist at the Beach Concession Stand.

7-11:30 p.m.: Exploring the Night Sky

Join Dennis Morton and the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh to view distant and faint objects in the sky. Telescopes will be available for use. Bring a flashlight and binoculars if you have them. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center.

In the event of rain, the Park Naturalist will conduct a program on Planets at Pavilion #4.

Sunday, Aug. 7: Chapel Service (Non-Denominational)

Held at the Amphitheater, Pavilion #4 if rain

These programs are free of charge.
