Oldtimers

The Jamestown Oldtimers baseball club traveled to Ohio last weekend for a pair of doubleheaders. On Saturday, Jamestown opened play with a 3-2, 10-inning victory over Alliance, Ohio. Rick Eaton pitched the final seven innings and earned the win, Ron Thomas doubled and Larry Persing tripled in the victory. Saturday's second game was a 6-4, nine-inning loss to Crestview, Ohio. Eaton and Thomas doubled in defeat.

On Sunday, the team moved to Niles, Ohio for a pair of make-up games. The day started with an 8-3 victory over Salem, Ohio. Dave Matz had three hits for Jamestown and Al Muck picked up the win for the Oldtimers. The weekend ended with a 6-5 victory over Niles. Eaton had three hits for Jamestown, Muck collected his second win of the day and Thomas earned the save.

Jamestown (7-4) are back in action Saturday at Diethrick Park when they host Hubbard, Ohio in doubleheader action. The opening contest begins at 11 a.m.

The team of Steve Darling and Gary Darling took first place in the Cable Hollow 2-Man Golf League Tuesday at Cable Hollow Golf Club with a score of 120 points. The team of Terry Anderson and Mike Anderson was second with a119 points and Ryan Lemon and Matt DeLong were third with 118 points.

Lemon, Justin Kell, Gregg Kolstee, Mark Kulka and Bob Weiland all shared low net in the round with scores of 34.

The Bucket broke out the bats on Wednesday, smacking 13 extra base hits in a 26-12 victory over Scared Hitless. Wes Schwanke doubled, tripled and homered and Darren Wenzel added both a triple and a homer for the winners. Adam Neubauer, Cody Vincent, Drew Wilcox and Adam Rupczyk also tripled and Brian Sager, Vincent, Mike McIntosh and Ben Wilson all doubled. Chris Torrence had a triple in defeat for Scared Hitless.

Physicals

Fall sports physicals will Youngsville High School will be held Tuesday, August 2, in the school nurses' office. Physicals will begin at 9 a.m. Checks for $40 should be brought to the physical, payable to Dr. Stanton.
