Late Over 30 softball
Mangione's Beverage won a pair of late Over 30 Softball League contests Tuesday at Betts Park. In improving to 7-3 on the season, Mangione's started with a 19-9 victory over Ed Shults/The Bucket and finished with a thrilling 11-10 victory over Kwik Fill.
In the win over Ed Shults, Mangione's scored 10 runs in the opening inning and never looked back. The huge inning included home runs from Tim Munksgard and Sean Mason. Vinnie Massa was 3-for-3 as was Josh Egger for the winners. Egger added a pair of deep home runs, taking over the league lead with four on the season. Tom Mott was 3-for-3 for Ed Shults in defeat.
Mason hit a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, driving home two runs and leading Mangione's to a one-run win over Kwik Fill. Mark Ordiway's grand slam in the second inning helped the Beer Men carve out an early advantage. Kwik Fill had trailed 8-6 after six innings before scoring four runs in the top of the seventh. However, Mangione's rallied as well, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh and winning the game on Mason's double.
