Warren County Tales

The Wilder Museum will be hosting its annual 'Warren County Tales' with Karen and Mark Davis at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21. The event will kick off with a Chicken BBQ starting at 5 p.m. for $8 in advance, with tickets available at the Warren County Historical Society and the Allegheny Artistry or $8.50 that evening. Take out or eat in.

The evening will also include live patriotic music, silent auction, Chinese auction, and a dessert bar. For more information, visit www.warrenhistory.org or call 723-1795.

These three ladies had a great time baking the patriotic cake at the Rouse Suites.

The Wilder Museum, located at 51 Erie Ave. in Irvine, is open for the summer on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1. to 5 p.m.

Up, Up & Away!

On July 23 Rouse will be hosting tethered hot air balloon rides. The rides will be open to the public from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost will be $5 per person. This fun event will be held in Friendship Park (between the Rouse Home and Rouse Manor). Parking will be available in the field across the road (weather permitting) and in the Rouse Home employee parking lot.

Youngsville Outdoor

Hero Nominee

In the newest LL Bean catalogue (Late Summer 2011) that just came out, they are showing a group of 10 "Outdoor Heroes" and asking the public to vote on one to receive a grant for their non-profit organization.

One of the nominees is a former Youngsville guy - Tom Gettings! You can check out his story video and vote, deadline is July 31 by midnight at www.llbean.com/heroes .

Lutheran Lay Renewal

A Lutheran Lay Renewal is a weekend in which lay people from all over the United States come to your congregation for a weekend of fellowship, prayer, renewal, and spiritual growth.

Saron Lutheran and Berea Lutheran churches will be having a Lay Renewal weekend on Sept. 9-11. Leaders for the weekend are coming from all over the United States, at their own expense, to share their faith.

ROY Secretary Position

The Revitalization of Youngsville meets the second Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at the Youngsville Public Library for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The group is in need of someone willing to take minutes at this meeting, as the ROY secretary, and email out the completed minutes to the group.

ROY officers are volunteers, with numerous accomplishments in the Youngsville area, a group with pride in its membership. Contact Anita Cohan at 563-4475 if interested in assisting ROY in this position.

Youngsville Yard

Sale Days

Once known and still referred to as YABA Days, the Community Yard Sale Days will be July 21-23. Maps will be available at local businesses. If you would like a listing on the map for a $5 fee, contact Cathy Brown at 563-7192.

The Revitalization of Youngsville will also be selling household items as a fundraiser during the Youngsville Yard Sale Days. Proceeds go to support the operations and events for the ROY program. Donations of household items, no clothing, can be dropped off at the Allegheny Artistry before July 21, or call Helga Laibacher at 563-4959 for pick up.

While you are out and about Saturday, July 23, remember to catch the Children's Theater 2 p.m. performance of The Elves and the Shoemaker at Joy Hall.
