Luvison Memorial
Race tomorrow
The Sugar Grove Community is gearing up for the 9th Annual Nyla Luvison Memorial Run to take place Saturday at 10 a.m.
Many in the Sugar Grove community benefited from the care of Mrs. Nyla Luvison who passed away in the fall of 2002 from malignant melanoma. Nyla contributed greatly to the community. She was a parent and adoptive parent to many of the children she came in contact with through the sports activities at EHS. She was especially active with the cross country and track teams. She was a nurse practitioner with the Sugar Grove Family Medical Center and she was also a Missionary VISA team member.
Since her passing the community has held the Annual Nyla Luvision Memorial 5K Fun Run/Walk. The proceeds from the event each year are divided between the EHS Boys & Girls Cross Country teams to help offset expenses and the Warren Cancer Care Center. Over the past 9 years more than $10,000 has been donated to help in the fight to find a cure for cancer.
The cost for the event registration is $15 if you pre-registered by 6-17-11 or $20 if registering tomorrow morning. The event will open with registration at 8 a.m. and continue until 9:45 a.m.at the Sugar Grove Elementary School. T-Shirts are guaranteed to the first 150 entrants. Awards will be given in numerous age categories.
A children's Fun Run will also be held free of charge at the conclusion of the 5K.
A BBQ Chicken Dinner will be available starting at 10:30 a.m. at a cost of $8/meal. Takeouts will be available beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Forms for the event are available in local Sugar Grove business locations.
