Supervised playground activities
Students who have been attending the supervised summer playground were having a good time playing Monopoly together. Each day is a new activity.

Thursday, July 7 will be bacon cheeseburgers, and soup.

Monday, July 11 chicken casserole, vegetables, dessert.

Tuesday, July 12, will be Stuffed Peppers or stuffed Cabbage-your choice, mashed potatoes, vegetables and dessert.

Thursday, July 14 will be Barbecue Ham sandwich, pasta salad and dessert.

Watson Grange

Watson Grange members will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Grange Hall located on RT 337.

Tacos In a Bag

Bella Konkle is having a concession stand at the Raft Races on Saturday, July 9 at the Tidioute Boat Launch.

She will be selling hot dogs, tacos in a bag, baked goods and bottle water.

She is a member of the sixth grade class at Tidioute Community Charter School and is raising money for her to attend a Cross Country Camp at Slippery Rock University later this summer.

Birthday Calendar

Sunday, July 10 is the deadline for the information to be posted on the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament Birthday and Community Calendar.

VBS

Tidioute First United Methodist Church will be hosting the Vacation Bible School this year and it will run from Monday, July 11, to Friday, July 15 from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.

The theme is "Pandamania" and is open to ages Kindergarten through sixth grade.

Snacks and beverages will be served.

Golf Scramble

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will hold its Tenth Annual Golf Scramble on Saturday, July 23, at River Ridge Golf Course.

Sign up sheets are located at VFW Post 8803 and at Tippy Canoe Inn.

This is a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

A $40 per person and a four person scramble.

Fees include green fees, cart, food and beverages.

Tournament Parade

Due to circumstances which were not in their control, the parade preparations were delayed, but are now in full motion.

The Theme this year is "Summer In Paradise", this theme offers many ideas for floats, vehicle decorations, etc.

Parade will be held as usual on Saturday, September 24 at 12 noon sharp, rain or shine.

There has been some concern about the late change of the parade theme. If preparations have already begun on your parade float using the theme of "American Historical Moments", you may continue in that theme. If you haven't begun preparations and want to use "Summer in Paradise, you may do so.

All floats will be judged fairly based on presentation and "sticking to the theme", whichever theme you choose.

Bingo

Tidioute Bingo games are held on every other Wednesday at the Tidioute Firehall.

Dates for this summer are July 13, July 27, August 3, August 17, August 31, September 14 and September 28.

Due to fair week Bingo will be the first Wednesday, August 3 to accommodate the fair-goers.

Doors open at 5 p.m., Early birds at 6 p.m. and regular bingo starts immediately following early birds.

If you have any questions regarding Bingo please contact Helen at 730-2893.

Proceeds benefit the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department.

Chicken BBQ

Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee members will be holding a Chicken Barbecue on tournament grounds on August 6, 2011 starting at 12 noon until they are gone.

Raft Races

The Allegheny River Raft Races "Anything That Floats" will be held on Saturday, July 9 starting at 11a.m. sharp behind the Wildwood Inn and finish at 3 p.m. at the Tidioute Boat Launch.

Theme this year is "Disco On The River".

Entry fee is $5 per person.

Classes include: Rafts without poles, Rafts with poles, Canoes, Kayaks.

Trophies will be awarded for Top three in each class, youngest/oldest participant, traveled furthest distance, most spectacular raft (must be decorated to fit the theme).

All ages welcome, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Reading Program

Book A Trip to the Tidioute Public Library's Summer Reading Program.

This year's theme if "One World Many Stories".

Registration is now open for all students in grades Kindergarten to sixth grade.

Their trip begins on Friday, July 29 with an opening party at 1 p.m

Also, their book sale will be held now through July 20.

Cost is $1 or hardbacks and 50 cents for paperbacks.

W.W.II Reenactment

The Third Annual W. W. II Reenactment will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m.

Come and see the Battle of The Bridge at Remagen. The German Ludendorff Bridge was the only bridge on the Rhine River captured by American Forces during W. W. II.

Watch as U. S. soldiers attack the town of Remagen and capture the famous bridge after its failed destruction by German engineers.

Watch as the bridge is blown up with pyrotechnics provided by Cartwright Fireworks. And finally the capture of the bridge and the defeat of the German forces.

Hosted by the 99th Infantry Division Historical Society Battlebabies, Tidioute Borough and Limestone Township.

Fireworks are sponsored by Cartwright Fireworks.

This battle will take place along the Allegheny River at Tidioute and Limestone Township.

Camp ground is located on Route 62 just south of the Bridge in Tippy Ballfield.

On display will be authentic W. W. II American and German uniforms, equipment and vehicles.

A special viewing area will be set up for all Veterans who are attending.

Cookbook deadline

Tidioute Community Charter School cookbook deadline for your recipes is Monday, July 11. Also the school office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Guild meeting

The Ladies Guild of ST John Church will hold their guild meeting on Tuesday, July 12 at the River Home of Nancy and Bob Schwab.
