JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - If you blinked, you may have missed Thursday's New York-Penn League Baseball League game between the Batavia Muckdogs and Jamestown Jammers at Diethrick Park.

In a contest that lasted just one hour and 57 minutes, Batavia defeated Jamestown for the second consecutive evening -this time by a 2-0 count. The teams have met in five straight days with Batavia taking three of the five decisions. The team's conclude the six-game home and home series Friday at Diethrick Park.

The Muckdogs scored one quick run Thursday off of Jammers starter Thomas Peale. Joseph Bergman singled with two outs, scoring Jordan Rasmus.

Peale wouldn't allow another run until the fifth - his final inning of work. This time, Juan Castillo hit a ground-rule double and scored when Jammers shortstop Yefri Perez committed his eighth error of the season.

Down 2-0, Peale was lifted and relievers Gregory Nappo and Kenneth Toves finished the outing. Together, the duo pitched four innings, allowing no runs and just two hits while striking out three.

While the pitching was outstanding for Jamestown, the offense was a letdown on Thursday. All told, the Jammers (8-6) had just three hits in the game. Pedro Mendoza had a first inning single and the team was held without another baserunner until Mendoza's second single in the seventh inning. Brent Keys' single in the ninth was the last of Jamestown's offensive production.

After Friday's series finale with Batavia, the Jammers begin a home and home series with Williamsport. The first two games - Friday and Saturday - are at Diethrick Park with the second two games - Sunday and Monday - in Williamsport.
