It was a magical season for Warren County track & field athletes.
Sheffield's Kalil Slaughter brought home two PIAA medals to hold things down for District 9, and representatives from all three District 10 county schools were present at the PIAA championships at Shippensburg University.
The Youngsville boys' 4 X 400 relay team of Max Lalwani, Bob McCoy, Nathan Smith and Rocco Gatta made the trip and returned home with state medals and a sixth-place finish. Eisenhower's Alex Yaegle also qualified for states and medaled with a fifth-place finish. Not to be left out, Warren's Summer Walter and the Dragons' male 4 X 400 relay team of Luke Wortman, Jordan Willetts, Allen Burnett and Matt Stapleford also qualified for PIAA competition.

Summer Walter
All that success left little doubt that the county would fare well when District 10 region all-star teams were released earlier this week.
Perhaps the biggest honor was held down by Walter.
After winning D-10 Class AAA championships in both the 100 and 300 hurdles, Walter was selected to a spot on the all-District 10 all-star team for the 2011 season. Walter also claimed Region 3 first-team status in the same two events.
Walter wasn't alone on the Region 3 first-team as several male and female teammates joined her. Sophomore Ellis Beardsley was a first-team selection in both the 800 and 1600, sophomore Sabrina Anderson was a first-team all-star in the 400 and the 400 relay team (Casey Kulka, Walter, Brooke Armanini, Kaitlyn Levesque) and the 1600 relay team (Beardsley, Anderson, Walter, Paige Rimer) were also awarded with first-team status.
For the boys, the 3200 relay team of Caleb Hultman, Rob Bablak, Amani Bosko and Brad Simmons was named to the first team as was Jordan Willetts in the 100 and Nathan Zigler in the 300 hurdles.
Several Dragons were named to the second team, including Anderson in the high jump, Rimer in the 400, Kulka in the 200, Willetts in the 400, Matt Stapleford in the 300 hurdles, Zigler in the 110 hurdles, Simmons in the 3200 and the boys 1600 relay District 10 champion team of Wortman, Stapleford, Willetts and Burnett.
The Youngsville boys and girls track teams also had several all-star selections with the boys landing five individuals on the first team and the girls five more. First-team selections for the Eagles were Bob McCoy in the 400, Nathan Smith in the 200, the boys 4 X 100 relay team of Max Lalwani, Smith, Rocco Gatta and Jordan Gurdak, the boys 4 X 400 team of Lalwani, McCoy, Smith and Gatta, the girls 4 X 800 relay team of Lexi Robinault, Kellie Lindstrom, Katelyn Maille and Devon Gruver and Abbey McLaughlin in the 200.
The second team was also well represented by Eagles as McCoy was selected in the 800, Smith in the 100, Gatta in the 200 and Cassie Swartzbaugh in the 300 hurdles.
Eisenhower's lone all-star selection was Yaegle, who was named to the Region 3 second team in the javelin.
Here are the complete lists of District 10 and Region 3 all-star teams for the recently completed 2011 season (all-region all-stars are by fastest regular season times; all-district is determined by fastest time between the two D-10 champs):
