Jamestown overcame a sub-par pitching performance and completed a sweep of the Williamsport Crosscutters with a wild 11-7 victory Wednesday at Diethrick Park.
Williamsport scored three times in the top of the first off Jammers starter Josh Hodges, but Jamestown responded with two runs in the bottom of the first. Marquise Cooper led off with a single and soon scored on Terrence Dayleg's triple. Dayleg would score on a groundout by Jobduan Morales.
Jamestown's big inning would come in the second when the Jammers (4-2) would plate six runs to go on top 8-3. Dayleg knocked home three runs with a bases loaded triple, a fourth run scored on an error and Rand Smith connected on a two-run homer -his first of the year.
Despite building a big lead, the Jammers watched as Williamsport (2-4) cut the deficit to 8-7 in the top of the fifth. Luckily for the hosts, they had one more big inning in them, erupting for the last three runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Cooper plated two runs with the team's second bases loaded double of the game and the final run of the night again scored on an error.
Jamestown finished with a season-high 15 hits. Eddie Rodriguez and Rony Peralta had three hits apiece, Cooper, Dayleg and Alfredo Lopez had two hits each and Smith, Viosergy Rosa and Nestor Castillo chipped in one hit. All put one player in the Jamestown lineup had at least one hit.
Tyler Topp earned the victory, pitching an inning and two-thirds and allowing just one hit while striking out two.
