The Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department will hold their 49th Annual Fireman's Festival this year July 10-16.
As always the Festival kicks off on Sunday, July 10, with a Chicken BBQ. The Sheffield Rod N Gun Club Chicken Crew prepares the chicken for us and the SVFD Ladies Auxiliary cooks the rest of the meal. The dinner consists of chicken, baked potato, baked beans, your choice of Jell-O or applesauce, dinner roll, and a cupcake for dessert. The cost of each dinner is $8. You must have a ticket to receive a dinner. Tickets will be available at Repine's, Peterson Hardware, and from Dorothy Repine or Melanie McMillen. Dinners will be available at either noon or 3PM. Also this year only, we will be having a Happy 175th Birthday Sheffield birthday cake decorating contest. Cake bakers of any age are asked to bring a decorated birthday cake for Sheffield's 175th, to the fire hall social hall by noon. Judging will be by the public. We invite the public to stop by and receive 5 free tickets to deposit into the containers by their favorite cakes. Judging will be from noon to 3:30 p.m. The votes will be tallied at 3:30 and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. From 4-6PM pieces of any cake can be purchased for a $1 a slice and FREE coffee will be given at that time too. Stop by and vote and enjoy the just for fun contest that celebrates Sheffield's 175th birthday!

The Parade will start at 4 p.m. and start on the west side of town, going down Main Street, and end on the corner of Main and Church Street. At 5 p.m. the midway will open for our last night of celebration. At around 10:30PM an amazing fireworks display, by far the best in the area, will be put on once again by Starfire Corporation.
After the fireworks our Grand Prize Drawing will be held. The tickets are $5 each. Fifth place wins $150.00, fourth place wins $250, third place wins $500, second place wins $1,000, and the Grand Prize winner takes home $2,500. Tickets are available from any firemen and at local businesses.
