North Warren Crafters
The North Warren Crafters will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21 at the home of Martha Anderson at 2317 Jackson Run Road. Participants should bring a white, red, blue or green yarn, plastic canvas, sewing needles with large eyes, scissors, a white elephant item, and items they worked on at home. Dessert will be provided by Martha Anderson.
Don't Be A Victim
Denny Mason well present Change the Jab at the Allegheny Community Center on Monday, July 18 at 5:30 p.m. Personal safety and effective self-defense techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. Spectators are welcome. Call 723-3337 for reservations.
North County National Scenic Trail
The Allegheny National Forest Chapter of the North County National Scenic Trail will meet on Monday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lion's Den in Sheffield. The meeting will recap two recent events, and one current event. Call Keith Klos at 484-7420 for more information.
Computing classes
The Warren Public Library will offer three beginner computer classes for interested adults. Class size is limited to five adults, and there is a $10 reservation fee which must be paid at the circulation desk that is refundable at the end of the classes. Absolute Beginner's computing is scheduled for Monday, June 20 at 5:30 p.m. Beginning Internet class is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. Introduction to the internet computer classis scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m. Call 723-4650 for questions.
Movie Monday
Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue June 20. This event is free of charge and will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Please note theearly start time. Thanks to donations, complimentary popcorn will be available. This PG-13 rated, 104 minute film stars Timothy Olyphant, Dianna Agron, and Alex Pettyfer. The film tells the story of extraordinary teen John Smith, a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Call the library at 723-4650 for the exact title of this and other movies in this series as the library's movie license does not permit listing the titles of movies outside the library.
Film series set
The International Film Series, a special movie event scheduled in conjunction with the Teen/Tween Summer Reading Program at the Warren Public Library begins Tuesday, July 14,, at 2 p.m. in Slater A on the third floor of the library. This special film series, which will offer participants an opportunity to visit other countries and experience other cultures, will begin with an animated feature film. Sing is a Shaolin Kung Fu practitioner who wants to spread his message to the rest of the world. He finds his outlet in "Golden Leg" Fung's makeshift soccer team. The ragtag team begins as a disgrace but soonfind their "Shaolin spirit" and also find themselves in the National Soccer Finals. This free film series is open to viewers of all ages and complimentary popcorn will be served.
