The installation started with David See Surveyors laying out the new playground. On May 11, Hoffner Excavating broke ground and prepped the area for the new structure. The next day, Rod Johnson Construction poured the slab that was needed for the surface-mount playground . On May 13, David See Surveyors returned for the final survey of the playground location.
During this time in another area, a group of volunteers were pre-assembling major components of the play structure.

On May 14, "Build Day" for the playground had arrived.
Volunteers started arriving as early as 7 a.m. despite the rain. While build volunteers were busy putting the structure together, other volunteers were passing out hot coffee, cold drinks and food that was all donated by the Sheffield Lions Club, the Sheffield Elementary staff and students' families. The playground was completely finished by 7 p.m.
On Monday May 16 , Mrs. Alexander's third grade class enjoyed the first recess on the new playground. The students won the opportunity by being the class that collected the most money for the "Love Your Playground" Penny Drive that was conducted during February.
The students and all the community children now have a safe and exciting place to play for years to come, according to school principal Steve Parinella
