Memorial Day

Sanford Cemetery in Eldred Township will have a Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. Monday with sheriff-elect Ken Klakamp as speaker.

Closed for holiday

The Warren County Humane Society will be closed on Monday, May 30, and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, May 31.

Any animal emergencies or dog control calls should be directed to 726-1961 or 726-3604, or call local police.

Results from

DUI checkpoint

Pennsylvania State Police troopers from the Warren and Corry stations conducted a DUI checkpoint in Mead Township on May 15.

The following results were reported: 32 vehicles stopped, no DUI arrests, no criminal arrests, three traffic citations issued and eight warning notices issued.

ATV, dirt bike

trails opening

ATV and dirt bike trails in the Allegheny National Forest will open for the summer season on Friday, May 27, with some restrictions due to the heavy rainfall this spring.

The Rocky Gap and Willow Creek trails in the Bradford District will open with no restrictions.

All trails in the Marienville District will open, but with detours and closures due to poor trail conditions. The use of Class II ATVs will be restricted.

The Timberline Trail will be open at the south end of the D Loop. The trail from the south end of the D Loop to Buehler Corners will remain closed until June 17. Class II ATVs will be temporarily restricted to the Timberline Trail only.

The Marienville ATV Trail will be open from the trailhead to the Marienville Bike Trail, including the scenic loop.

The Marienville Bike Trail will have one detour; Class II ATVs will not be permitted. Until repairs are completed, there will be no connection between the Marienville bike and Timberline trails.
