The lights are back on at downtown bookstore

Some sort of confusion appears to have temporarily turned out the lights in GRO-Warren's Allegheny Center for the Arts Building.

The owners of Authors Books & Music, a store located in the ACA building, showed up Wednesday morning to discover their electricity had been turned off by the electric company.

According to owner Michael Yahn, the building's owner, GRO-Warren, is responsible for transferring payments for the electricity bill to the electric company.

"It was out when we came in (Wednesday) morning," Yahn said. "There was a shutoff notice on the door."

Yahn spent Wednesday and Thursday operating his store by candlelight. The electricity was reconnected on Thursday.

According to GRO-Warren director Chris Cheronis, her office had not received any of the shutoff notices from the electric company.

"The bill was paid and the electricity was turned back on," Cheronis said.
