Kelly Meets with ROY
Congressman Mike Kelly met with representatives from the Revitalization Of Youngsville Association (ROY) recently to learn first-hand the efforts being done to improve the quality of life and the economic well being of the community. Kelly looked over the completed engineering design, viewed all the plans, and offered suggestions.
"Youngsville has raised the money needed for the first phase, Railroad Street is shovel ready, because of the generously and kindness of so many people, organizations, foundations, companies and civil servants. Once the additional state criterion is met, if all goes as planned, we hope that the project will go to bid in September," said Nancy Holmberg.
Route 6 Heritage Community Work Plan
On March 10 Suzanne Gagliardo, CMSM, met with the Youngsville's stakeholders' group to discuss implementing the Route 6 Heritage Community Work Plan developed for Youngsville by the EADS Group.
The first item on the work plan is to implement an artist relocation program to develop the arts in Youngsville and the region. Youngsville was awarded a Route 6 Heritage Community status two years ago by the Commonwealth. The Rt. 6 Heritage Communities Program enhances participating communities as destinations for non-intrusive tourism on the scenic Route 6 Corridor by building on the unique characteristics and resources in each community.

Spring Gathering
Saturday, April 29, ladies of the Irvine Presbyterian Church hosted the Spring Gathering for the Lake Erie Presbyterian Women's Association.
Ninety-three women attended the event. The theme was Africa as the Presbyterian Church has a considerable mission presents in that country. Bev Hutchinson, missionary serving in Burkina Faso, Africa, provided a glimpse into the life and needs of the women and children that she serves. Women are still regarded as property there, and life is very hard for them. These women provide child care for one another so that they can attend worship and Bible study. The children are getting a basic education but their supplies are limited.
To help with supplies the attendees each brought school supplies, enough to fill two bushel baskets. Bev is sponsored by the Irvine Church. Dr. Jamie Swart, born in South Africa, provided a meditation and discussion comparing "The Woman at the Well" scripture story with the African woman. Susan Ledebur provided hands-on experience creating African rhythms. A salad bar lunch with homemade pie was provided by the Irvine hosts.
Friends of BVSP News
As part of the commitment of the Friends of BVSP, they will be having work bees at the pool the next three weekends in May. On Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, they will be working from noon until 6 p.m. at the pool. They will be painting, cleaning, mowing, planting and all types of general maintenance.
They ask anyone who wants to be a partner in helping them save the pool for the community kids. Come on up and help out. A Friends of BVSP volunteer will be on hand during the annual book fair at Youngsville Elementary Middle School the week of May 16 through May 20 to sell pool passes. The passes will be sold at early bird discount.
