EMHS Art Show

Come and join us for the Eisenhower Middle High School Art Show, Friday, May 13th from 5:30 p.m. 8 p.m. The show will feature artwork from Art 1 through Art 4 classes, ceramics, crafts, sculpture and Exploratory Art 7 & 8 and also 8th grade Art Classes.

Band Tag Days

Eisenhower Middle High School Bands will ask the community for support during their Annual Tag Days on May 6th & 7th. EMHS band members will be at several locations in Sugar Grove, Lander, Russell, and Warren beginning Friday evening from 4 p.m. -8 p.m. and then again on Saturday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Please help support our Music Department.

Choir Concert

Eisenhower High School Senior Choir members look forward to presenting their Annual Spring Concert on Friday, May 13th at 7 p.m. in the EMHS auditorium. The public is invited to the free concert that includes a variety of songs - classical, folk, pop, musical theatre and a newly-commissioned arrangement of "Rachel's Anthem." The auditioned group Fantasia will also perform, all under the direction of Mrs. Denise Pearson. Accompanying Senior Choir on piano will be Ethan Swanson former choir member from the EMHS class of 2008. The concert is free to all and any donations to the program will be appreciated and accepted at the door.

Rummage sale

There will be a large rummage sale at Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a variety of new and very gently used clothing and other items at very affordable prices. There will also be baked goods and food to eat in or take out so mark your calendar and get a jump start on all your summer garage sales.

Lunch schedule

A community lunch is provided at the local area churches. The first Friday of each month lunch is provided at the Mission Covenant Church. The 2nd Thursday lunch is provided at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. The third Wednesday lunch is provided at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church. The Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church will be hosting a community lunch on the 4th Monday of the month. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend. Over the winter months the lunches have been well attended and we hope that the start of spring brings out even more. Come on out and enjoy lunch and catch up with old and new friends.

Library, and Kids

The Sugar Grove Free Library will be sponsoring an evening spring story hour starting May 23 at 7 p.m. The theme this year will be to bring an awareness of the people that make up our unique community. Every Monday night will feature a different resident who will read a book that corresponds with their profession, hobbies, or special interests. For children this instills an understanding of pride, community awareness, and respect for the area that we live.

There is no age limit with this program, but pre-registration is appreciated.

American Legion

Scholarship

A Scholarship is available from the Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758. The Legion is offering this scholarship to Eisenhower Middle High School Seniors. Information is available in the Eisenhower Guidance office.

Clean Up Day

The Sugar Grove Community Clean up Day is going to be held Saturday, May 7. From 9 a.m. 1 p.m. The drop off place is in the parking lot is across from the Sugar Grove Post Office. This Clean up is for Sugar Grove Borough residents only. The cost is $5 per load. Please remember NO batteries, oil, hazardous materials, asbestos, no televisions, monitors, computers, tires or wet paint is allowed to be dropped off. If you have any questions, you may contact the Sugar Grove Borough Building at 489-7822.

Celebration events

The Senior Awards Ceremony for this year at Eisenhower High School will be held in the Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on May 25. Numerous graduating students will be receiving honors, awards, and scholarships. The EMHS Baccalaureate Service will be in the Auditorium at 2 p.m. on June 5th and 2011 Commencement will be held June 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Cooking class

ARAMARK Food Services, the Food Service Company for the Warren County School District will provide its May Community Cooking Class on Wednesday, May 18 at 6 p.m. Please note the change in date to Wednesday, May 18th from the original date scheduled at the beginning of the school year. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this final cooking class of the 2010-2011 school year. There is no charge for this class, we do just ask that you register ahead of time by calling 723-6900 ext 2145. Registration fills to capacity. More than 60 adults and students attend each session of the cooking classes throughout the year to learn new cooking techniques from our WCSD Executive Chef, Justin Tech. This month's class will have the theme, "Summer BBQ Grilling" and have recipes, tips, hands on cooking segments, and samples to taste. Class will be held at the Beaty Warren Middle School starting at 6 p.m. Thank you to everyone in the community that has supported this year's classes with their attendance. We look forward to seeing you next year.
