Little Miss Tidioute
Winners in the Little Miss Tidioute Pageant on Saturday evening were left to right: Aspen Fors- Wee Miss; Grace Sabella-Little Miss and Hanna Divido-Junior Miss.
This is in conjunction with the SADD programs presented prior to the High School Prom to remind them not to drink and drive.
Taking part in this event will be members of the senior class, Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department personnel, Sheriff's department, Tidioute Police Department, County Corners office, Emergycare, and if weather permits possibly a helicopter just to name a few.
Umpires needed
Tidioute Little League will be hiring umpires for the t-ball and baseball season.
Plate empires will be paid $25 per game and base empires will be paid $20.
Tidioute Recreation is an equal opportunity organization so both male and females can apply.

Senior Center menu
Thursday, May 5 is a pizza party.
Monday, May 9 will be the Mother's Day Dinner with a program presented by the Kindergarten-5 and First Grade at 10 a.m. weather permitting. Rain Date is for May 10 at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, May 10 will be pulled pork, vegetable and dessert.
Thursday, May 12 will be Macaroni and Cheese, stewed tomatoes and dessert.
Statue rededicated
A rededication ceremony will be held at the General Joseph Warren Statue on Monday, May 9 at 11 a.m.
The Tidioute Chapter was the Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution which originally put the statue in the Park in 1910.
That DAR chapter has since disbanded and the committee behind the rededication ceremony would like to invite any of the former members of the chapter to the rededication and also invite them to the luncheon at the Conewango Club afterward at 12:30 p.m.

Congregational
meeting
There will be a congregational meeting for the Tidioute First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at the Tidioute Methodist Church.
All members are invited to attend and meet the new pastors and give input on the new charge set up.
Watson Township
clean-up
Residents of Watson Township will have their clean-up day on Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the community building.
No batteries, propane tanks, solvents or hazardous materials will be accepted.
Watson Township received $43,632 for 2010 forestry receipts and $8,016 in a state fund allocation.
Items for troops
Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8803 are still collecting items for our troops who are serving overseas the United States.
Some of the items include: bath soap, shaving lotion/cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, baby wipes, foot powder, hand Sanitizer, individual packages of tissues, wash cloths, plastic forks, spoons and knives, power bars, dried fruits or canned with pull tops, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, crackers-Ritz are the most popular, candy-no chocolate, cough drops, cookies, nuts in cans or packages, chewing gum, beef jerky, snack cracker packages (cheese or peanut butter), lifesavers, hard candy, Swiss miss packages.
Please no aerosol cans.

Deerfield Township
The regular monthly meeting of the Deerfield Township Supervisors was held at the Township Building.
The installation of two sodium lights with dusk to dawn sensors is still in process and it is hoped to have them installed prior to the primary elections in May.
The 550 Ford Truck continues to have maintenance issues that were performed by Midtown Motors,
Flood Plan Maps at the Deerfield Township Building are still available to be reviewed by any interested resident simple by calling the township building at 484-3051 and leaving a message for William Jewells requesting a day and time to meet and review the maps.
The Spring Road Tour was conducted, there was still some frost in them, but most roads are in need of grading and filling of pot holes. There are culverts that will need to be replaced in Kushner Road, Hill Top Drive, Youngsville Road, McCauley Hill Road and Althom Road. These culverts will be replaced as the weather and time permits. Some of the pipe needed has been ordered due to the collapse of a pipe in Althom.
Potential grant money for the Fern Hollow project was discussed. It is not clear whether any money will be available, but Supervisor John Barnes will contact the Conservation District to obtain an application for submission.
Corp. Richard Aleken from the Warren state police barracks attended the meeting. He stated that the state police are to periodically attend township monthly meetings to re-introduce themselves and discuss any issues that the townships might have.
As a reminder the Township Spring up day has been set for Saturday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to noon. No tires, paint cans, shingles or hazardous materials will be accepted. The cost is $5 per car load and $10 per pick-up truck and or trailer.
Bids for gravel and anti skid were received and IA Construction was awarded the bid for 3A anti-skid and 2RC gravel. Bids for diesel fuel will be advertised in the Times Observer for review at the May monthly meeting.
March presented a mixed activity on the roads. They were plowed and checked for flooding. Ditches were cleaned on McCauley Hill Road, McGee Run and Youngsville Road. In addition, pipes were cleaned on Youngsville Road and Gibson Road. Fern Hollow had to have additional help from Turner Enterprises in cleaning of the drain pipe. Maintenance on the grader was preformed. A notice was prepared and will be given or posted to residents reminding them to please clear any debris that may plug their driveway culverts so that water may flow freely in ditches.
VFW Post 8803
There will be a Board of Directors meeting for the Servicemen's Home Corporation on Friday, May 6, at 9 a.m.
On Sunday, May 8 there will be the regular monthly meeting at 9 a.m.
This will be a breakfast meeting, and breakfast will be served prior to the meeting at 8 a.m.
Servicemen's Home Corporation meeting will follow the VFW meeting at 9:30 a.m.
Measure Up
"Measure Up" with the Knights of Columbus and The ARC of PA as part of a statewide campaign to benefit the 350,000 citizens of PA with developmental disabilities.
The 2010 "Measure Up" Campaign, which features the distribution of handy plastic rulers, is the 33rd annual event sponsored by Knights of Columbus across PA. Last year the Campaign raised $157,000 and this year an ambitious goal of $165,000 has been set.
The Knights have raised more than $5 million dollars for The ARC in PA over the past 30 plus years. The Tidioute and Warren County Knights of Columbus raised $2,700 in 2010 for The ARC of Warren County. These funds will help children and adults with developmental disabilities lead productive and rewarding lives.
Tidioute Knights urge everyone to come out and "Measure Up" with them. Tidioute Council of the Knights of Columbus will be distributing rulers on Friday, May 6 at Northwest Savings Bank and on Saturday, May 7 at the Tidioute Trading Post. The ARC is a non-profit support group that provides services for people with mental retardation. Advocacy, counseling, placement, camping, supported employment and adult day care programs are just a few examples of the activities offered by the Warren Chapter of The ARC. For 61 years, The ARC has remained dedicated to promoting the general welfare of persons with developmental disabilities and advocating for the rights of the individual.
Watson Grange
Master Bob Hollabaugh presided over the recent meeting of Watson Grange with a considerable amount of discussion on questions directed at the Commissioner Candidates at the Meet Your Candidate Forum held at the Pomona Grange recently.
Members were urged to vote on Tuesday, May 17.
Up-Coming events include: Lenhart Cemetary clean up on May 9 at 4:30 p.m.; Craft night on May 10 at 6 p.m. at Alice Weaver's home; Seventh Degree dinner on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Watson Grange; Watson Grange regular meeting on May 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Warren-Forest Pomona Grange on May 14 at 9 a.m. at the hall on the Warren County Fair Grounds with Watson members providing the lunch; a workbee on the driveway on May 21 at 8 a.m.; Watson Junior Grange meeting on May 24 at 6 p.m.; Open House on June 9 at Watson; Fall Turkey Party on November 12 at Watson.
There is still a need for glass items such a water glasses, vases, cups, shot glasses, etc for the dime pitch that will be held during the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament on September 22 to the 25. clean-up
Spring Clean-up for Watson residents and camp owners is set for Saturday, May 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the township building.
This is free to all Township residents and taxpayers in the township. You must have a tax receipt or utility bill to use the dumpster.
No batteries, tires, propane tanks, or hazardous material allowed.
Metal must be separated from the trash.
Playground donations
The Summer Supervised Playground will be starting up again real soon and donations are needed to fund this project.

Little Miss Pageant
Saturday evening proved to quite exciting for the very young ladies in Tidioute as they competed in the Fifth Annual Little Miss Tidioute Pageant.
Cathy Ohler was the program coordinator and guest speaker was Alexis Morrison-Miss Tidioute 2010.
Those who participated were: Aspen Fors, Lilly Sabella, Katelyn Kestle, Allison Schratz, Noreen Brown, Nakiesha Krouse, Grace Sabella, Greyson Fors, Brooke Martin, Allexa Morgan, Yvonne Gibson, Morgan Silvis, Hanna Divido, Lakin Krouse, Sierra Hall, Morgan Hittie, Lexi Haehn and Jennifer Wadlow.
Winners were Aspen Fors-Wee Miss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Fors.
Little Miss winner was Grace Sabella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sabella.
Junior Miss winner was Hanna Divido, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Divido.
Each contestant was introduced and interviewed, preformed her talent and then all the contestant returned to the stage for the judges decission.
Following a small intermission the judging began and prior to the announcement each contestant was presented with a certificate and gifts.
Stage assistant and announcer was Allison Konkle and Jennifer Buckley.
Special entertainment was by Paul Eisert, singer/songwriter, acoustic guitarist.
Judges were Meghan Snyder of Dancers Reflection in Titusville, Katy Lauffenburger-2010 Warren County Fair Queen, and Cheryl Walters.
Crushing cans
Tidioute Lions Club has a special request.
They would like to have the steel cans crushed when you bring them to the recycling center as well as crushing the milk cartons and all other #2 plastics.
Other items they are collecting include glass, aluminum, newspapers, corrugated cardboard and eye glasses.
New auxiliary shirts
VFW Post 8803 Ladies Auxiliary is selling white golf shirts with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary logo on the front.
All members are urged to purchase them and wear them in the Memorial Day Parade.

Wheels and Deals
The 2011 Wheels and Deals Car Show will be held on Saturday, May 28 at the Fishing Tournament Grounds with registration at 9 a.m.
There will be 12 classes with trophies for first, second and third place in each class. Best of show will receive a trophy and $40.

Marty Bennett will be holding the Annual Afghan donation show on Fishing Tournament Grounds on Saturday, May 28.

Borough clean-up
Tidioute residents will be able to rid out those unwanted items on Saturday, May 14 when the Tidioute Borough will hold their annual Spring clean-up.
Cost is $5 per car load and $10 per pickup truck load.
Time is from 8 a.m. till 12 noon.

Basket raffle
to aid scholarship
In 2002, Melissa Courtney was killed in an alcohol related accident. That year the Courtneys started a scholarship in her honor at Eisenhower High School, the school that she graduated from in 1999.
The Courtneys wanted to do more, so in 2007 they put together a snack basket and asked local merchants for any small items, certificates, and gift cards that could be added to the basket.
The Tidioute Community Charter School SADD Committee is offering the scholarship to one of the seniors at the charter school. Donations of any sort are being sought to put in the basket or to put towards the scholarship.
The winner(s) of the scholarship will be a senior at the Charter School.
Once the basket is in place, tickets to raffle off the basket will be sold. All proceeds will go towards the scholarship. If you have anything to donate you can drop it off at the Tidioute Community Charter School between the hours of 7:30 a.m. 4 p.m. or you can call Mandie Flatt or Amanda Slattery at (814) 484-3550. All donations are appreciated.
