Sheffield Area High School junior Kalil Slaughter, featured on the cover of the 2011 Spring Sports preview section, is chomping at the bit for the 2011 D9 track and field season. As close as Slaughter came to a PIAA Class AA state medal, he's only a junior and the once Abraxas co-op and now Sheffield student is just getting his feet under him. And they are fast feet. The Wolverine is the returning District 9 champion in both the 100 and 200. A 24-page Spring Sports preview is inserted in Wednesday's Times Observer.
