Spaghetti Dinner

Members of the National Honor Society at Tidioute Community Charter School will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner at the Charter School.

Dinners will be served from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m.

Lions Club installs new members

Thursday, March 31, Breakfast consisting of omelets, bacon, sausage, fruit, blueberry muffin, juice.

St. John Church

Mass schedule for ST John Roman Catholic Church will change back on Saturday, April 2 to 4:30 p.m. and it will be at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's.

Confession times for Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. at ST Anthony Church and 7:30 p.m. at ST John Church.

Thursday, April 14 will be 6 p.m. at ST Anthony Church and at 7:30 p.m. at ST John Church.

Also, one half hour before regular mass times on Saturday and Sunday.

Holy Week: Saturday, April 16 at 4:30 p.m. Mass at ST John, and 6:30 p.m. Mass at ST Anthony.

Palm Sunday April 17 9 a.m. Mass at ST Anthony and 11 a.m. Mass at ST John.

Wednesday, April 20, 6 p.m. Seder Meal at ST Anthony.

Thursday, April 21 7 p.m. Mass of the Lord's Supper at ST John.

Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. Good Friday Service at ST John; 7 p.m. at ST Anthony.

Beach blast

There have been additional items added to the menu for the Beach Blast planned for Saturday, March 26.

In an attempt to usher in Spring Sunshine and thoughts of Summer heat, the Presbyterian Church is preparing for a Beach Blast.

The new menu will consist of a foot long hot dog, macaroni salad, baked beans, chips, beverage, cake and ice cream all for only $5 a person.

So bring a friend and join them on Saturday, March 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

All money raised will be used for church restoration.

The "Give to Get" notice on the posters around town has been canceled.

Dog licenses

Warren County Humane Society will be on hand at the Tidioute Health from 9 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. selling dog licenses.

Health Fair

Saturday, March 26 will be a very busy day as the Tidioute Health Fair gets underway starting at 7 a.m. at the Tidioute Fire Hall and ending at noon.

Comprehensive Blood Testing, Free Screenings, Informational/Interactive displays.

Comprehensive blood test includes testing for heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid function, anemia, and liver disease.

Cost for the blood test is $40 which includes a light breakfast. Men have the option of a prostate cancer testing for an additional $17.

Appointments are recommended by calling Marty Bennett at 484-7372.

The free testing that will be available will be bone density, blood pressure, height and weight, eye screenings, body mass index, Reiki Demo and others.

This is sponsored by Warren General Hospital in Cooperation with Tidioute Fire Department.

Several business owners will be present to share information on their business and organizations will be present with information about their organization.

Some of the groups that will be represented include nursing homes, dentists, pharmacy's, Warren County Humane Society (with dog licenses for sale), American Cancer Society just to name a few.

Please stop by and visit with the different groups there and have the free testing done at your leisure.

Lenten lunches

Lenten Lunches will begin on Wednesday, March 30 at St. John Church.

Lunch is at 11:30 a.m., menu is the choice of the host church.

These lunches at open to all who wish to come and are free of charge.

Lions Club

Tidioute Lions Club has welcomed three new members at the March 15 dinner meeting held at the Tidioute Presbyterian Church.

Those new members installed included Evie Buser sponsored by Jim Marshall, Tom Buser sponsored by Betty Marshall and Bill Weber sponsored by Carmen Fedele.

Assisting with the installation was District Governor of District 14-F, Dave Hollern.

Following the installation, Hollern gave a brief talk on several topics of interest to the club in including the upcoming District Convention which will be held at Cross Creek Resort on April 16, 2011.

PSCFT Bingo

Once again the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee members will be hold an afternoon of Bingo at Buccardo's Restaurant.

Games will be on Sunday, April 3 with the doors opening at 3 p.m. and games at 4 p.m.

Salvation Army Camp

There are still a few slots open for the Salvation Army Camp set for June 27 to July 2.

Those attending will be provided with transportation to the camp in Ellwood City on Monday, June 27 and transportation back home on Saturday, July 2.

Cost this year is $10 per child age 10 to 12 years.

If you missed the special sign up you can send a business sized self addressed stamped envelope to Jeri Higgins, 359 Main ST, Tidioute and she will mail you an application.

This camp is for boys and girls and they will be chaperoned down and back and will have adult supervision while they are there.

If anyone would like to make a monetary donation to support a child or two you may do so by sending your donation to Linda Scott-Unit Chairperson, 60 Jefferson ST, Tidioute, PA 16351. Your donation will be kept anonymous if you desire.

While there they will experience canoeing, camping skills, arts and crafts, church services, hiking, swimming, good food and making new friends.

Easter Stocking raffle

Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee member are still selling chances on a six foot long Easter Stocking filled with games galore.

Tickets are only $1 each and can be purchased from committee members, at Polly's ShurSave Market where the stocking is hanging or from Butch Glenn 484-1234.

Drawing will be Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. during the Easter Egg Hunt. Winner need not be present to win.

Easter Egg hunt

There will be the usual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee.

Chairperson is Michelle Buccardo and the hunt will be at the Tippy Ballfield on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. weather permitting.

In the event of rain the hunt will be moved to another location to be announced.

The children will be divided into age groups and the parents and guardians are reminded to keep the children in these age groups to keep it fair for all those attending.

Special eggs will be marked for prizes that will be awarded at the conclusion of the egg hunt.

Food Bank

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania will hold a mobile food pantry in Tidioute this Saturday, March 26.

It will begin at 10 a.m. at the Tidioute firehall.

This distribution of groceries is for the residents of Tidioute and the surrounding area who are in need of food assistance. There is no pre sign up and participation is free.

Food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The mobile food pantry is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Warren County. The site is sponsored by the Tidioute Lion's Club.

The only food bank in Northwest Pennsylvania, Second Harvest is the major supplier of food to a network o 403 partner organizations that obtain products from our warehouse and distribute them to individuals and families facing hard times in 11 counties. The organizations include such emergency programs as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, Kids Cafes and weekend BackPack Programs as well as non-emergency programs. During fiscal year 2009-2010, Second Harvest distributed 7.7 million pounds of food to partner agencies, which, in turn, provided food to 72,600 unduplicated recipients.

We will have a limited supply of boxes and bags available, please bring some if you have them.

Deerfield Township

The regular monthly meeting of the Deerfield Township Supervisors was held on Monday, March 14 at the Deerfield Township building.

A verbal estimate was obtained from Warren Electric Co-Op for the costs to install a new electric pole and light plus the monthly maintenance cost. After discussion it was decided that the township will purchase two (2) sodium lights with dusk to dawn sensors and have them installed on the building.

The 550 Ford truck is in need of maintenance work and will be done at Midtown Motors.

The Flood Plain Maps at the Deerfield Township Building may still be reviewed by any interested resident simply by calling the township building at 484-3051 and leaving a message for William Jewell requesting a day and time to meet and review the maps.

A Spring Road Tour will be conducted on Saturday, April 2, 2011 and will begin at the Township Building at 8 a.m.

Township Spring Clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 from 8 a.m. till 12 noon.

No tires, paint cans, shingles or hazardous materials will be accepted.

Cost will be $5 per car load and $10 per pick-up load.

Advertising for bids regarding diesel fuel, gravel and anti-skid were discussed and will be placed in the classified section of the Warren Times Observer for review at the April monthly meeting.

February continued to be a busy month for the road maintenance with plowing and sanding of the township roads. The snow melt and rain during the month necessitated the need to clean ditches and pipes.

Fern Hollow required the cleaning of the culvert to allow proper water drainage.

The supervisors would like to remind residents to please clean any debris that may plug their driveway so that the water may flow freely in ditches.

Wednesday Bingo

Tidioute Fire Department would like to remind the Bingo player of the area of the Wednesday night Bingo Games at the firehall.

Doors open at 5 p.m., early bird games at 6 p.m. and the regular bingo begins at 7p.m.

Light refreshments are available.
