The well-known anthem many might associate with the United States Navy is "Anchors Aweigh." But, members of the Edinboro University community will soon have the opportunity to attest, the U.S. Navy actually has a full repertoire of music ready for our local audience.
The U.S. Navy Band's Sea Chanters Chorus will perform in concert at Edinboro University's Louis C. Cole Auditorium-Memorial Hall on Monday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. The Edinboro University Music Department is sponsoring the 24-member vocal ensemble, accompanied by a rhythm section of piano, bass and percussion.
One of several concerts in the Sea Chanters' 2011 National Tour from March 18-to-April 7, the Edinboro visit by the nationally-acclaimed group will be led by Senior Chief Musician Georgina Todd. The concert is guaranteed to delight and amaze the local audience with the Chorus members? versatile talents. At home in Washington, D.C., the Sea Chanters perform for the President, Vice President and numerous congressional, military and foreign dignitaries.

Edinboro Music Department?s faculty encourages regional high school and college music students to attend this free concert, as well as members of the general public.
According to the group's concert program, the Sea Chanters will perform a variety of music ranging from popular show tunes to jazz to classical and even operatic works.
The Edinboro audience can also applaud a regional favorite! Local talent Kevin Taylor of Cranesville is a featured member of the Sea Chanters and can be seen and heard during the Edinboro University performance. Taylor graduated from Albion's Northwestern High School in1985, received his bachelor's degree in Music Education from Penn State University, and became a member of the Sea Chanters in 2004.
Admission to the performance is free. However, tickets are required for entry. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for ticket holders. Non-ticket holders will be admitted at 7:20 p.m. on a first-come basis.
