Baseball Sign-up

Tidioute baseball sign-ups will be on Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. till noon at Buccardo's Restaurant and More.

Registration forms may be picked up at Buccardo's or in the Tidioute Community Charter School office.

Chili Cook-Off winners

Forms may be dropped off at Buccardo's.

Registration is open to kids age four through 16.

Camp Sign Up

It is that time of year when the volunteers of the Tidioute Unit Salvation Army are preparing for the camp season.

This year camp for Tidioute children will be from June 27 through July 2.

Sign-up will be held on Saturday, March 5, at Buccardo's Restaurant from 10 a.m till noon.

A fee of $10 per child will be needed by June 15 or before.

Persons unable to make the sign up should send a stamped self-addressed business size envelope to Jeri Higgins at 359 Main St., Tidioute, and she will mail an application.

Anyone interested in making a monetary donations may do so by contacting Jeri Higgins, camp chairperson, at 484-2771 or Linda Scott, unit chairperson, at 484-7525. Checks can be made out to Tidioute Unit-Salvation Army.

Fish Fry

The Stinebiser's Steering Committee which includes women from Tidioute VFW will benefit from a fish fry on Friday, March 4, from 4 till 7 p.m. at the VFW Post 464 in Oil City located on Relief St.

Cost is $9 and will include appetizer, complete fish dinner and homemade pies, cakes and brownies.

Senior Center Menu

Tidioute Senior Center lunch menu for Thursday, March 3 will be beef and noodles.

Monday, March 7 will be meat lasagna, salad and dessert.

Tuesday, March 8 will be stuffed peppers or cabbage rolls, vegetable and dessert.

Thursday, March 10 will be turkey roll-ups, mashed potatoes, vegetable and dessert.

All lunches are served with beverages.

Call 484-3020 the day before to sign up. When school has been canceled due to bad weather, the senior center will also be closed and there will be no home delivered meals on those days.

Collecting Hats

Members of the Tidioute Lions Club are collecting baseball hats to send to Guatemala and Central America to help protect people from the harmful rays of the sun.

The rays from the sun are so bad in that area that it is affecting the eyes of people as young a the age of 12. They are very poor and they cannot afford hats to keep the sun out of their eyes.

Anyone wishing to donate hats can contact any member of the Lions Club or call King Lion Carmen Fedele at 484-7758 to make arrangements to have them picked up.

Collecting these hats is an on going effort of the Lions Club.

Cookie Booth Sales

Tidioute Girl Scouts will be holding cookie booth sales the next two weekends.

On Fridays, March 4 and 11, the Daisy Scouts will have sales at Buccardo's Restaurant from 4 to 5 p.m.

On Saturdays, March 5 and 12, the Brownies will hold cookie sales at Polly's ShurSave market from 11 a.m. to noon.

Chinese Auction

Proceeds

VFW Post 8803 Ladies Auxiliary had a successful Chinese Auction on Feb. 26.

All proceeds from the auction will go to cancer research.

Chili Winners

Sunday's Chili cook-off was a success with 22 entries at the Tippy Canoe.

Regular chili first place was won by Mike Come and second place went to Ron Flambord with honorable mention going to Andy Downey.

In the Hot Chili Division, first-place winner was Robert Tyler and second place went to Tim Geist with honorable mention going to Mike Salsgiver.

All who entered their chili received a small gift.

Judges were Dale "Skip" Weilacher, Father Joe, and Alan Hall.

Other in-house entertainment was a shuffle board meet.

Wishing Well Proceeds

All proceeds/monies collected from the Wishing Well outside the Tippy Canoe Restaurant is being donated to the Tidioute Unit of the Salvation Army. All proceeds collected in Tidioute stay in Tidioute to help those in need.

PSCFT Bingo

There will be bingo on Sunday, March 13, at Buccardo's Restaurant.

Doors open at 3 p.m. and the games begin at 4 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament, which will be held Thursday, Sept. 22 through Sunday, Sept. 25.

Easter Stocking

If you are in need of a great Easter present, be sure to purchase a ticket on the six-foot Easter Stocking stuffed with toys.

The tickets are $1 each and are on sale at Polly's ShurSave Market.

Drawing will be on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. during the Easter Egg Hunt at Tippy Ballfield.

The raffle and Easter Egg Hunt are being sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament Committee.

Pancake Supper

Tidioute First United Methodist Church will be holding its annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, March 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Cost is $5 per person.

Menu will consist of pancakes, sausage, eggs, beverages.

Take-outs are available by calling the church at 484-7721 after 5 p.m. on March 8.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday services will be observed at the Tidioute First United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. March 9. All are welcome.

VFW Chili Winners

First-place winner was James Brown. Second-place winner was Sonya Shields and Third-place winner was Patty Johnson.

Tidioute Health Fair

Saturday, March 26 has been set for the annual Tidioute Health Fair at the Tidioute Firehall from 7 a.m. till noon.

Cost is $40 per person for the blood work and an additional cost of $17 for the PSA for the men.

There will be several free testing sites for anyone who wishes to participate.

Reservations/appointments are being made through Marty Bennett at 484-7372.

This is a 12-hour fasting blood test and light breakfast foods will be provided after the blood work.

The health fair is sponsored by Warren General Hospital.

All are welcome to come and browse, ask questions and acquire health tips.

Second Harvest

Food Bank

The Second Harvest Food Bank will be held on Saturday, March 26.

Food Commodities

The Food Commodities delivered through Salvation Army will now be chaired by Betty Johnson, who lives at the Tidioute Towers.

Anyone wishing to receive this food can contact Betty at 484-3566 and get signed up.

Food distribution is at the Tidioute Towers in the community room.

Vouchers

Betty Johnson will be assisting with vouchers for those in need in the community. When you have a need, call Betty at 484-3566 and she will make arrangements to meet with you and assist you.
