John R. Stewart, son of Arthur and Susan Stewart of Warren, has been named a Doane Distinguished Scholar for the 2009-10 academic year at Allegheny College, Meadville. Each year, the 10 students who have earned the highest cumulative grade point averages in each class are named Doane Distinguished Scholars. Stewart is a senior at Allegheny and is a graduate of Warren Area High School.

Kelly Dawn Brose of Pittsfield was named to the fall 2010 honors list at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. Students named to the honors list earned grade point averages of 3.75 to 4. To be eligible, a student must be a degree candidate and must have earned at least 12 semester hours for the grading period.

Lauren N. Saporito of Youngsville has been accepted at Gannon University, Erie, and will begin classes in the fall 2011 semester as a radiologic science major. Saporito is the daughter of John and Julie Saporito and is a student at Youngsville High School. She is a member of student council and she is a Girl Scout. She also participates in archery club and School Improvement Team.

A senior at Warren Area High School, she has been active in Key Club and in Interact Club. Bakalli plans to major in early childhood education and participate in sports and clubs.

Kristin Johnson, daughter of Craig and Donna Johnson of Warren, has been accepted at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for the fall semester. A senior at Warren Area High School, Johnson has been active in tennis and works at Warren Shurfine. She plans to major in education.

Gregory Haley, son of the Rev. Kevin and Amy Haley of Warren, has been accepted at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for the fall semester. A senior at Warren Area High School, he has been active in Boy Scouts; Grace United Methodist Praise Band; Warren Players; WAHS Marching, Concert and Jazz Bands and Orchestra; Club Crossroads; and SADD. Haley plans to major in applied media arts, cinema: animation and art education.

Jaimee Jordan, daughter of Toby and Becky Jordan of Lottsville, has been named to the dean's list at Mercyhurst North East for the fall 2010 term. Students named to the list earned a grade average of 3.5 or better. A 2008 graduate of Eisenhower High School, Jordan plans to become a registered nurse and work with children.

Tyler Leichtenberger of 805 Hillcrest Dr., Warren, has been named to the dean's list for the fall quarter at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology. A first-year student in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Leichtenberger is studying mechanical engineering. He is the son of Tricia Leichtenberger and Carl Leichtenberger and is a 2010 graduate of Warren Area High School.

Elisha A. Jones of Russell has been named to the dean's list at Waynesburg University, Waynesburg, Pa., for the fall 2010 term. Jones is a senior athletic training major and is a graduate of Eisenhower High School. Students who earn a grade average of 3.5 or better are named to the dean's list.

Natalie Ann McLaughlin has been accepted for the fall 2011 term at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She plans to major in psychology and continue with a graduate degree in community counseling. McLaughlin is a senior attending Tidioute Community Charter School and has been a member of the volleyball team and band for four years. She is president of National Honor Society and vice president of the senior class. McLaughlin is the daughter of Patrick and Vicki McLaughlin of Tidioute.

Sara Selan graduated summa cum laude in December from the Robert E. Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology with a minor in business administration. At IUP, Selan was a member of student government, served on the board of directors of the co-op and works as both a resident assistant and head resident assistant for the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Selan has been awarded a graduate assistantship and began studies for her master's degree in employment and labor relations at IUP in January. She is a 2007 graduate of Eisenhower High School and is the daughter of Steven and Debra Selan of Russell.
