There will be no classes for students today as the District will be holding an ACT 80 training day for staff. Then on Monday there will be no class for students for a Professional Development Day for teachers.

Library support
The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary recently held a bake sale in support of the Sugar Grove Free Library. Mary VanArsdale coordinated the event and presenting the check to Kim Wilson is Sugar Grove Post #50 Auxiliary President Michelle Williams.
The Sugar Grove AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary recently held a bake sale in support of the Sugar Grove Free Library. Mary VanArsdale coordinated the event and Sugar Grove Post #50 Auxiliary President Michelle Williams presented a check to Kim Wilson at the Library. Hours for our local Library are Monday and Wednesday 2 p.m. 8 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The community is fortunate to have the library and its resources available to the public. Anyone in the community is invited to help by donating their time volunteering, donate new or gently used books, make monetary donations, or place a book in the library as a memorial.
Quilt raffle
There is a fundraising Raffle at the Sugar Grove Free Library to benefit the library operations. The quilt is a queen size sunflower pattern donated by Linda Kane Eckman owner of Creative Threads of Frewsburg, N.Y. Donations for raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The drawing will be held February 28, 2011. For more information, stop in the Library.
VITA
VITA personnel affiliated with RSVP will be available at the Sugar Grove Free Library and at the Sugar Grove Borough building to assist with free 2010 tax preparation.
Appointments at the Sugar Grove Library will be every Thursday (with the exception of Feb. 24th ) from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment at the Library call anytime at 489-7872.
Appointments at the Sugar Grove Borough Building will be every Wednesday starting February 16th from 9:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment at the Borough building, you can also call the Library. Please make sure to bring all your pertinent tax information paperwork.
Food pantry
Many area volunteers, businesses, and organizations have donated to refill our local Sugar Grove Food Pantry. The food pantry is daily in operation to help out those in need in the Sugar Grove Community. If you are in need of food items this holiday season, please contact the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church at 489-3105 for information on how you can make an appointment with a volunteer who can assist you in receiving needed food items.
Lunch schedule
A community lunch is provided at the local area churches. The first Friday of each month lunch is provided at the Mission Covenant Church. The 2nd Thursday lunch is provided at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. The third Wednesday lunch is provided at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend. The Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church will also be having a community lunch on the 4th Monday of the month starting at 11:30 a.m. Their first luncheon will be held on February 28th. All are invited to attend.
Food distribution
The Second Harvest Food Bank distribution from it's mobile food pantry will be held on Saturday. The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church located at 210 Jamestown Street is the host site for the Northern part of Warren County for this program. Second Harvest is the major supplier of food to charitable agencies throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Blue & Gold
It's a great weekend of sports activities with the Eisenhower Knights. On Friday starting at 4 p.m. and continuing through the day on Saturday the Knights Varsity Wrestling team will compete in this year's sectionals. Then on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Girls Junior High Volleyball team will play in a match at Youngsville. It's an afternoon of basketball at EMHS with the Girls Varsity Team taking on Linesville starting at 1 p.m. and then the Boys Varsity team taking on Linesville starting at 4 p.m.
Registration
The Imaginative Preschool in Sugar Grove will be taking applications for their fall classes 2011-2012 classes. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Children must be three on or before September 1st to enter the 3 year old class. Children must be four on or before September 1st to enter the 4-5 year old class. A tour of the class room and a chat with the teachers can be arranged by contacting the school at 489-3105. The preschool classes are in session each year September through May.
Band Events
Congratulations to the Eisenhower High School Band members selected to attend the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Band Events this month.
On February 19th Michael Spencer will be attending the PMEA District Orchestra Festival.
Also this weekend, Greg Mizak has been selected to attend the PMEA District Jazz Band Event at the Meadville Area Senior High School.
