BOYS HOOPS: Ike boys start slow in loss

COCHRANTON - Cochranton jumped out to a 21-10 first-quarter lead and Eisenhower was forced to foul in the 70-58 Region 3 loss.

"We didn't shoot well tonight, and in the first quarter we didn't hustle well," said Eisenhower coach Steve Norris, whose Knights defeated Cochranton earlier in the season, but fell to 5-15 overall Tuesday.

Josh Deppas had a team-high 18 points for Eisenhower, which is 2-5 in the region and out of the playoffs. Cochranton, which is 4-4 in the region, essentially eliminated the Knights from District 10 Class A playoff consideration.

Conneaut Valley 64, TCCS 43

Tidioute Community Charter's three seniors played well, but it wasn't enough in the final home game of the season.

Matt Brown finished with 26 of 1-15 Tidioute's 43 points, including 10-of-13 at the free throw line. Shaun Sitterley added 10 assists and Ben Craft 10 rebounds in the loss.

Tidioute Charter closes its season at Cochranton on Friday.

Cambridge Springs 67, Youngsville 23

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS - Slow starts to both halves hurt the Youngsville Eagles during a 67-23 loss to Cambridge Springs Tuesday at Cambridge Springs High School.

After falling behind 18-5 after the first quarter, the Eagles kept pace with the Blue Devils in the second and trailed by just 16 at halftime. However, Cambridge Springs executed a 25-3 third quarter run that ended any chance of a Youngsville comeback.

Nathan Smith scored a team-best 10 points for Youngsville (1-19) while Jeremy Clark added seven points.

The Eagles also lost the junior varsity game, 57-33. Coll Dininny and Tom Chapman scored eight points each in defeat.

Youngsville visits Iroquois on Wednesday.
