Super Bowl subs
As the NFL season comes to an end we are all anxiously waiting for the Super Bowl and to see which two teams will be involved. The 7th graders at Eisenhower Middle School are going to make your Super Bowl meals for you. A sub sale is planned for Saturday. This way your subs will be made and ready for you to eat during the big game.
The following types of subs will be available: Ham and Cheese- Slices of ham and provolone cheese on a submarine bun. Turkey and Cheese- Slices of turkey and provolone cheese on a submarine bun. Club - slice of ham, turkey, salami, and provolone cheese on a submarine bun. All subs come with lettuce, tomatoes, and Italian dressing in a sandwich bag for your convenience. This way, your sub doesn't get soggy.

State Rep. Kathy Rapp, pictured here with Assistant Principal Eric Leamon, visited Eisenhower Middle/High School on Thursday. Rapp was at the school to speak to the 12th graders and 7th graders on her role in the State House of Representatives. She also provided a presentation to the 7th graders on the State of Pennsylvania as they begin their classes on Pennsylvania Culture.
All Subs are 12 inches long and cost $5. Payments will be due when orders are placed. All subs must be picked up by 3 p.m. on Saturday at EMHS in the Cafeteria. To order subs, contact any 7th grader or call the school office for more information. Part of the proceeds will go towards the Cancer Kits that will be donated to the Warren County Cancer Center by the 7th graders at EMHS.
Battle of the Bands
Tonight Eisenhower High School will be hosting its 4th Annual Battle of the Bands. The event begins at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. so you can arrive early and get a great seat. The cost for the event is $5 per person. The bands you will hear include Resurrection, Breaking Through, Beyond the Illusion, Jelly McClelly and the Biscuits, and Furthermore. Special guests Still Waiting and Trenton Roberts will also be performing.
Dinner theatre
This year the Eisenhower Theatre group, Knight-time Players, is venturing into uncharted territory. The group is offering a dinner theatre on Feb. 18. and 19. at 6:30 pm in the Eisenhower cafeteria.
The dinner includes your choice of stuffed pork chops or stuffed chicken breast, rolls, salad, potatoes, vegetable, dessert and coffee/tea/ soft drink.
The show is a selection of scenes called "First in Line and Other Traumatic Experiences" which explores all the firsts in a person's life. The cost is $15 per person and includes everything for the evening. There are limited numbers of children's meals for those who are age 6 and under. The cost of a child's meal will be $5. This is a chicken nugget french fry meal.
Tickets are available from any Knight Time Drama cast member, or by contacting Pam Durnell, Erin Figley or Mary Passinger at EMHS. You can also call the EMHS main office at 757-8878 and leave a message. Tickets are pre-sale only and must be purchased by Feb. 10.
Kindergarten
registration
The Warren County School District will hold the Sugar Grove Elementary School kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year, on Thursday, Feb. 17. Parents of students who will be attending Kindergarten next year are asked to please come and register their children. Times for registration will be 8:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. 2:30 p.m. In an effort to make registration convenient for working parents, there will also be an evening registration time held from 4 p.m. 6 p.m. Registration packets which parents are required to fill out may be picked up prior to the day of registration. There will also be vision and health services screening available for the new students at this time. Food Pantry
Many area volunteers, businesses, and organizations have donated to refill our local Sugar Grove Food Pantry. The food pantry is daily in operation to help out those in need in the Sugar Grove Community.
If you are in need of food items this holiday season, please contact the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church at 489-3105 for information on how you can make an appointment with a volunteer who can assist you in receiving needed food items.
Community
lunch schedule
A community lunch is provided at the local area churches. The first Friday of each month lunch is provided at the Mission Covenant Church. The 2nd Thursday lunch is provided at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. The third Wednesday lunch is provided at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
Quilt raffle
There is a fundraising Raffle at the Sugar Grove Free Library to benefit the library operations. The quilt is a queen size sunflower pattern donated by Linda Kane Eckman owner of Creative Threads of Frewsburg, NY. Donations for raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The drawing will be held Feb. 28,. For more information stop in the Library.
Band Booster

The EMHS Band Boosters are currently selling tickets for a 300 club drawing. This takes place at the Frewsburg Legion located at 9 Meadow Lane, in Frewsburg, New York on Saturday, February 19th. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with the drawing starting at 6:00 p.m.. Tickets are $10.00 each and one ticket admits 2 people. There will be a Chinese Auction, and a light dinner will be served. Parents of students in concert band, jazz band, orchestra, and marching band have tickets available. This fundraiser benefits all the instrumental programs at Eisenhower. The EMHS Band Boosters are also doing a BonTon Community Day fundraiser on Feb. 26. Coupon booklets will be sold for $5. Contact the Band Office or a Band Member for more information.
Pre-school
registration
The Imaginative Preschool in Sugar Grove will be taking applications for their fall classes 2011-2012 classes. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Children must be three on or before September 1st to enter the 3 year old class. Children must be four on or before September 1st to enter the 4-5 year old class. A tour of the class room and a chat with the teachers can be arranged by contacting the school at 489-3105. The preschool classes are in session each year September through May.
Dinner dance
A dinner dDance with live band event will be happening again this year at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 12. Couples or singles are welcome to come and have a good time celebrating Valentine's Day weekend. The cost is $10 per person. A served buffet dinner will be provided with salad, entrees, dessert and beverages. Ron Carrington Sr. and the band, Touch Of Old, will perform during and after dinner. The fun all starts at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help offset the cost of refurbishing the new Fellowship Hall Cafe. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, January 27th. Please call the church office at 489-3105 to purchase tickets.
Schedule reminder
Monday, Feb. 7, the Warren County School District will be in session to make up for classes cancelled by a snow day on Dec. 6th.
On Friday, Feb. 18, there will be no classes for students as the district will be holding an Act 80 training day for staff. Then on Monday, Feb. 21, there will be no class for students for a Professional Development Day for teachers.
Food distribution
The Second Harvest Food Bank distribution from it's mobile food pantry will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19.
The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church located at 210 Jamestown Street is the host site for the Northern part of Warren County for this program.
Second Harvest is the major supplier of food to charitable agencies throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania. They obtain products from the organization's warehouse and distribute them to individuals and families facing hard times in 11 counties.
